Re: bad vibes after koni kit and poly bushes

+1 I'd buy a set ! It's a pity the TRD ones are unavailable, I've heard they are excellent. Yes, it is a shame. I installed some on my original '85 at just over 100k miles, which I had bought new, and those, along with a set of Tokico Illuminas/original Eibach springs gave the exact suspension I wa...

Re: bad vibes after koni kit and poly bushes

Would be really nice if it were possible to make rubber replacement bushings, of varying durometers, in the same manner and style that poly bushings are made. I think they'd sell far easier, and to far more people than the poly variety.

Re: bad vibes after koni kit and poly bushes

For me, the longer you own one of these, and become more attuned to its nuances, the better. Unfortunately, it probably would have been better if you had made some of these suspension changes one at a time in order to see how each benefited, or hindered what you preferred in ride quality. But I know...

Those are original. They were on an very low mileage, all original SE located in Hong Kong.

Re: Superedition project part 1 of 3 completed ~ Pic Heavy ~

Hi Rob, tear drops are not the best but okay condition. Will be having them reconditioned. Will be using standard silver, but have read somewhere the original colour is more light grey rather than silver. But I am not to keen on the original colour. Here is a pic of an original '89 SE teardrop whee...

Not with me it's not, don't like Americanisms , especially when referring to a Japanese car ! ?????????????? :? Just a term where the USA English word is different from UK English. In this case we're talking about the fact that what you Americans call the trunk on a car we call the boot - so ...

Re: springs

Not sure KYB actually ever made springs for our cars, and would certainly be surprised if they made them rather high. FYI: the least offensive lowering springs easily obtainable these days are probably the Eibachs. The newer ones, since 2009, lower the car approximately 1" at most. The older on...

Re: springs

The springs could have been a Japanese aftermarket version, which generally do lower the rear more than the front, but if you had them on previously you should have noticed it then as well. And as stated regular struts have nothing to do with ride height, unless one somehow got seriously jammed and ...

Re: White Lanner

It was the first MKI special edition car celebrating the fact that the MKI was named the '84-85 Car of the Year in Japan. Yes, it doesn't look that different from others, but it came out before the '86 MKI's got the same color coded treatment, so it was quite unique at the time. Additionally, its pa...

Interesting, lol. Second one I have seen also, but at least this guy kept the rear clip more or less completely intact, whereas, the other one just had a fraction of the rear clip remaining, plus no oem seats. Interesting also that they kept two of the foot pedals.

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

there's a tendency to plough straight on Understeer on exit to the corner.....this sounds like you haven't completed the corner yet, the power unweights the fronts and will indeed charge straight on. I do something similar myself - never realised until someone pointed it out. You spend a lot longer...

Re: Headlight problem

I have a multimeter with me, but my bgb is back in storage (just moved). I think I checked all of those awhile back, but can't recall the exact results. I'll try checking mine again tomorrow, and then post the results. I did just look at an online copy of the electrical schematic for the '89 AW11, a...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

By no means does Quaife or torsen give power to the inside wheel. The idea is that it biases torque of the wheel with less torque (inside) and adds it to the wheel with more torque (outside) under uneven torque distribution (weight transfer during cornering). In the case when the vehicle is turning...

I'd definitely like to hear more on this issue, and know if you figure out what the problem is as I am having the same issue with my '89 4agze (usdm version). It is on my passenger side as well, but your driver's side. I had probably been driving around for awhile with just one headlight, and just h...

Re: LSD - significant benefits on a NA?

Forget the comments based solely regarding tire grip when it comes to an lsd's usefulness, as that somewhat overstates the need or not for an lsd. The sheer fact that power will now be given to both tires and not just one is the bigger factor. Even with moderate power an lsd makes a huge difference....

I think they were working on some of this over on 2brutal, in particular for the 4agz, but got sidetracked on a discussion about the Aussies having done the work already, and the discussion was eventually dropped. However, I recall the Aussies only having worked on the 4age. But maybe this was a dif...

Re: 222D rally car

Both the Black and the White 222D's have been featured in the jdm WRC magazine some years back, with lots of pics of the special features, etc. I've had both, but have sold the one with the Black model on. I actually have the copy with the White 222D up for sale on MR2oc.com at the moment. Would hav...
