Because the white (and black) lanners were the rarest of the rares? And didn't their very existence get 'discussed' quite a lot? Hence the 'infamous'?

Not sure how original this one is now by the looks of things?

To the uneducated eye, I would say that's just a white Mk1 with no bumpers?

Is it the funny coloured seat upholstery that identifies the car as a Lanner :-k

The seats are the same as you would find in a red MK1a.

My old MK1a:

The seats ARE different, on the head rests
a screaming chicken is embroidered and is WHITE
It is a larger version of what was later used on the MK1B

There are or were a pair kicking about in the, UK
Taken from a white lanner when it was "restored"
Mk1b White T-bar SC 1987, Mk1b White coupe Jan90, Mk1b White coupe Jan90 (spares), Mk1b Mica blue T-bar Mar90, Mk1b Mica blue T-bar,full climate control,Jan90, 5 mk1's :)

Yep, fair play didn't notice that. Blimey, though it's a poor effort at a special edition really.

From memory the car I saw before it was put to a a standard white Mk1,
Had slightly different than the normal mk1a door cards and a couple of other subtle
Things but I can't remember much more as it was more than 4 years ago, also being an import Na auto.

It was the first MKI special edition car celebrating the fact that the MKI was named the '84-85 Car of the Year in Japan. Yes, it doesn't look that different from others, but it came out before the '86 MKI's got the same color coded treatment, so it was quite unique at the time. Additionally, its paint was a special super white, a slight shade different from other white MKI's. Also, only 100 were made. Other than the different colored seats, for a white MKIa, it just got all the other items that a top-end MKI GT model would get.

Rather surprised the seller isn't advertising the fact that it's a WL. Would probably be a lot easier selling it.

The Black Limited, which came out the following year, was actually more like all the other MKIa's from the same production year, as they all used color coded items then.

LOL, i suppose i just don't see anything that special about this Lanner edition... does nothing for me really, i think the Super Editions and maybe the Sherwood Toning models float my boat.

Haha.. i love that line... i just don't see anything special..

wonder why that is... oh hold on a moment who was that crazy guy who built that V8 mk1 and has the ultimate v6 SC going in another at the moment.

Absolutly no idea why you struggle to see anything special with a standard car with a bit more white on it and a slightly larger embroided screaming chicken!
