[Mk2] [Generic] The first clean :)

Post by MrSix »

I was up at sparrow fart this morning, excited that I'd get a whole day to clean, polish and wax my car. So at 8am I was outside getting set up to give it a clean :D

After an night of rain I was left with a pre-soaked car:
Image

Image
The previous owner used Zymol wax so the water had beaded nicely :)

A quick look over the car showed it was in great shape for it's age and although it is swirled, they're certainly not the worst I've ever seen!
Image

The interior is 90's and jap...so don't expect much ;)

Hopefully some leather feed will get the seats back in to shape, however my ar$e isn't as picky as my eyes so I'm not all that fussed about them.

Image

The car was given a blast down with the pressure washer first and the water on the glass roof panels was beading nicely, so I couldn't resist a quick artsy fartsy shot ;)

Image

Then it was on to the wheels, tyres and arches with some Megs Hot Rims

Image

Image

I then started to shampoo the car down panel by panel with the two bucket method when something happened that was to change my happy day in to a horrible one.....

IT BEGAN TO RAIN!

So I've now got to leave it for today because it's just not stopping :(

However, I shall resume this thread once I get a day with no rain :D

Right then, so there was a break in the weather and I managed to get the car cleaned

Image

Even the engine bay is fairly clean!

Image

The boot is pretty much unused, apart from the ghetto 12 disc autochanger yo! ;)

Image

And the finished pics after a good shampoo:

Image
...yes that is the fester of doom in the background ;)...and I know my dog is amazing :D

Image
Shiny even before polishing :)

Big grin for me!

 not heard that one before. Some very artistic pics you've taken there. Good luck with the big clean.

The shine on the car at the moment is from the previous owner, literally all I've done it clean it today.

However, I use a multitude of products depending on what I'm after.
When I get round to the polish and wax I'll claybar the whole car to make sure there's no contaminants, then use Megs step 1 paint cleaner to reduce some of the swirls (and ScratchX or T-cut for any deeper blemishes), then I'll use Autoglym Super Resin polish which brings out a lovely shine and also has fillers which reduce the appearance of any existing swirls, then finally wax it with Megs Step 3 carnuba wax. However I am getting some Collinite 476 wax because I want something more hard wearing :)
