Irony and joking aside I must admit that Corsa GSi that I had was a quick car, particularly to own at the age of 18.

I think it was good for 60 in 8 - 9 seconds which is quite swift for a 1.6.

I think often the reason sheds get the drop on you when your having a little play is simply because the spotty oiks behind the wheel just have no fear or common sense!

I had no fear at that age because I was too stupid and inexperienced to realise how dangerous my driving was to both myself and other drivers.

Where I grew up in the depths of West Wales car culture is massive and being absorbed in the boy racer culture was kind of like being in a bubble as everyone I knew at my age also drove like a tw@ so it just seemed normal! I'm only grateful I didn't have an accident or injure anyone before I grew up and realised how dangerous my antics were.

How things change. I drove my mum from Manchester to Wales in her Astra Sport Hatch the other day and she was berrating me for being to hesitant to overtake! :oops:

but you can if you coat it in varnish first :D

im quite a sedate driver, especialy through town (theres been a lot of deaths recently in this rural city) so when i get an ego trip driving irraticly next to or behind me, it realy gets on my wick.
ive had a few of these situations driving through the city, all sorts congrigate in the same area so you get to hear whats happened or been said so i think the mentality is good in some regards as they must be thinking "you wont get anywhere unless you try" which is a great idea when your feeling a little challanged in life........but doing 50mph in a 30 to then ride up somones ass is just plain stupid! then saying to all their mates "i kept up with him all the way, he couldnt shake me!" is equaly stupid, im not supprised i couldnt shake him.......i was doing 30mph in a 30mph zone!

For me its not about the car, its about the louts with no decorum who cant help trying to be a loud obnoxious adrenaline fueled lil twits. Would be nice if they learned some decorum and just left other people to their own devices. When theres a lady present, its really unforgivable for these oiks(because usually theirs at least 2- 4 of them) to start trying to intimidate, insult and goad people. Shame for the car, as its the morons often driving them that give it a bad name.

He's still in a Corsa.. =;

Even parked up, you still win, why waste the fuel trying to get ahead, your point is already proved! He has a Vauxhall badge!

That's not really the point though is it, there's plenty of cars out there that look better than the 2 so does that make the 2 a bad car.... of course not.

You say why waste your fuel? Well why waste your money on trying to make it faster if you can't beat a shitty vauxhall corsa as you put it.

Fact of the matter is, Some corsa's make a modded mr2 look like its going backwards.

Never under estimate something that looks standard, You never know what it's gone done to it.

My favourite 'sleeper' was a Mk3 Escort, looked pristine, badged as 1.3 Ghia IIRC - with old man AA badge attached to the front grille, looked like a car owned by a Grandad who'd had it from new, but lurking underneath was a modified Cosworth turbo engine and running gear :) The only 'tell tale' that something was amiss was the larger wheels to accommodate adequate brakes and the exhaust size/noise.
