[Mk2] [Turbo] rev4 turbo 1 aston martin db9 nil

Post by alan1150 »

Had an aston martin db9 speeding up behind me earlier today, so decided to open up the mr2 and show him what these jap cars can do. I flicked onto high boost setting and nailed it upto approx 80mph when i looked in mirror to see the db9 still close behind but now throwing out clouds of white smoke.
At first i thought he had lit the wheels up but when i slowed down i had a good laugh as i saw it still smoking and he had to pull over at side of road. An expensive little repair i bet.

You do realise that a healthy DB9 would've absolutely left you for dead?

I don't think I'd laugh if I saw one of those beautiful cars go up in smoke behind me

to be fair upto 100 mph there probably wouldn't be much in it if the rev4 was running 1.2 bar boost and was mapped properly... :-k

I ain't denying he would have been faster on a long stretch of road, just that he must have felt pretty stupid trying to make me race so he could prove he was quicker. When it ended up in clouds of white smoke coming out the back.
Also to add to mrtee's stats i think the aston does a standing 1/4 in 13.1, so not much quicker than i would expect from mine.
Think we all no what car we would rather own but would rather have the repair bill on an mr2. :)

Lol a DB9 is goin to blow away an Mr2 at any speed once its going
0-60 times mean jack xxxx look at how much torque it has 420 lb-ft

My bike on paper can do 0-60 in under 3 secs and a 10 second quater mile but it aint guna keep up with a moving DB9.

no it won't keep up with it, if it has that acceleration then it's obviously quite a powerfull bike, it will leave the db9 for dead....

there's also many an mr2 turbo that will do the same, just because it's a db9 doesn't mean it is particulaly fast, i mean, a standing quarter in 13.1 seconds for a car that costs 120k...

Hmm...so I guess the lardy 1,709kg kerb weight doesn't have any impact then? That's approx 246 lb/ft per tonne...an MR2 at (say) 1,300kg only needs 320 lb/ft to equal that, OK that's probably more than a lot of tubbies are running but not exactly unheard of.

I'd sure rather have the DB9 too, but I don't think they're as quick as you make out there. And I bet your bike would rinse one too, if ridden to the max!

once im fully mapped and got the fuel rail and new injectors on il go film it for you all and you will all see for your selves how quick a db9 is, il be running on high boost around 420bhp but ovisously i can turn that down a little

just looking through your garage you only really have filter and exhaust which your prob making something like 280bhp fly tbh i doubt youl match a db9 with that power....

il get a few runs at 400ish bhp and pm those that are interested, went for a drive last night and saw 6 db9;s in about 2.5hours comen as muck lol, also saw a xxxxxx lush black 996 turbo convertible on what must have been 20's making a absolout racket on idel had a little bagde on the back turbo 550 made a note of that for the future lol
