[Mk2] [NA] One of the worst days of my life....[now with pics]

Post by magic »

My pride and joy was totally destroyed on Saturday morning as a result of a horrific accident in Birmingham

My friend had to be cut out the car and has shattered his femur at the hip in several places

I was a little more lucky and walked away with a crush fracture to my hand, whiplash and general cuts and bruising.

We were "t-boned" whilst proceeding through a junction on a green light.

Possibly the scariest moment of my life and one that will haunt me forever

My car literally disintergrated and we were looking to get out alive

Thankfully everyone survived despite the speed at which the other vehicle hit us

Check out the pics:

Sorry to hear your news

Peoples general attitude absolutely disgusts me regarding jumping red lights.
The number of times I've blasted my horn whilst trying to avoid them, and they look at you as if you murdered their kids - errm it's them going through red lights not me #-o

Anyone going through a red light should be charged with attempted manslaughter - no excuses.

Anyway, glad everyone is okay(ish).

Wow.... not good, but as said before at least everyone survived.

I have been in a crash as a passenger at around 20MPH, and that was shocking enough ... let alone something like that.

Thanks for all your comments guys

Accident happened on the Hagley Road in Birmingham - whole road had to be closed off for a while.

Apparently the other driver "cannot recall" what happened - how convenient ?!?

Worse still, I have since found out that she wasn't even breathalised!!

Luckily I have a witness who confirms my light was green

Like you guys have said though, I'm just glad I made it out alive!

why wasnt she breathalised :( :-k i thought with r.t.a's it was a standard procedure, like all have said glad you are both still here to tell the tale seems to be a spate of 2's going off the rd at the moment in accidents, i know its not really the thing to say but sue the ar$e off them you can get a fair bit of compensation for that not nice for your mate to suffer and be in pain but you have lost your pride and joy but might make you feel a bit better :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Glad you're ok dude :thumleft:

I had a very similar accident several years back, I was in a mk5 Fiesta (!) and someone jumped a red light and t-boned me. I got out without a scratch but both cars were totalled.

The claim went on for over a year as she denied jumping the red light, even though I had an eye-witness behind me who saw my light was green.

Shame, that's a nice clean looking rev3 tin-top you had there :(

Very sorry to hear about your accident and very sorry to hear that your mate has some bad injuries. Looking at the pics of your car it makes me realise how lucky I was to escape un-injured from this:

Whereas your mate gets a seriously broken leg. It's pretty humbling to be honest.

I wish you and your mate all the best with getting things sorted :)

I hope no-one thought I was trying to take anything away from magic's crash - I just feel bad that someone got so badly injured from nowhere near as much impact intrusion as my MR2/lamp post union.

magic's mate was an innocent victim of a careless driver's mistake - I made my own mess and I am just so glad that no-one else was involved.
