MR2 Turbo vs Skyline R34 GTT

Post by mr2nut123 »

I was just wondering what the outcome would be between mine and a mates car.

My tubby is running 263bhp with 254fp torque, his skyline is running 335bhp, not sure on torque.

The MR2 t-bar gen2 is supposed to weight 1260kg and the skyline according to the skyline forums is 1410kg.

Would I have him until silly speeds?

I think you'd have him well into silly speeds to be honest.

You'll whoop him in my opinion.

I had a spirited drive with a modded R33 GTR and I pulled away from him ever so slightly on the straights. I'd guess it was pushing 320ish. I was running about 280 at the time.

I own a r33 gtr v-spec which is pulling 640hp with gt2530's.... Your right though the gtt single turbos are pretty slow..

I allso will own an mr2 turbo soon with arround 250hp because I love them that much..

Think you'd whoop the skyline to be honest.. Allthough top end he may gain on you...

Even though he has about 75bhp extra than me? I suppose they have an extra 100+kg onboard and off the line they will be a bit pants i'd have thought compared to the mr2 with the mid-engine.

I keep hearing totally different figures aobut mr2 weight. Some people say over 1300kg then others say 1250kg. I reckon it's the rev3+ that will be over 1300kg and the rev1/2 that are 1250kg. The GTT skyline weights 1410kg according to the skyline forum.

One way to find out. Stick your car on a weighbridge.

I would think a tin top rev1 GTS would weigh less than a t-bar rev2 GT for a start.

But Lauren is bang on, your car wont weigh what it says on a website some where. I would put every penny and posession I own on that.

Minus Spare Tyre, Tool kit and Zero fuel my car came in at 1220KG.
I think thats as light as a stock ish Rev 3 turbo will be mind.

So 1240-1250kg from the factory is a min the mr2 can be, 1300-1350 with options is completely possible.
