There have been quite a few different threads about insurance.
I see some people are only paying £110 or £120. I'm paying £180 for a 5000 miles limited mileage policy. Can I have a few company numbers to try. Thanks

Re: Classic car insurance
That seems a very good price to me, fully comp and limited to 5000 miles. I pay around £130 but thats limited to 3000 miles, I don't think you will get it much cheaper than that, let me know if you do.
Re: Classic car insurance
I pay £500 for 7500 miles with Norton. It is modified and doesn't have a garage to live in so it's too bad.

Re: Classic car insurance
I'm with One Answer (underwritten by Chaucer) and I'm paying £120 per year for fully comp cover with a max mileage of 1500... I can 'up' that at any time though for a few extra quid!

Chaucer insurance £105, 1500 miles limit but can up the mileage at any time, £4500 agreed valuation.
Re: Classic car insurance
Chaucer underwrite the MK1 Club's policy. It's who I'm with.
Just found out it covers track day use as well
Not that it matters much to us as we also work for a track day organiser so we are covered on their policy too
Not sure if you can go direct to the underwriters or if you have to go through a broker... But Houghtons are the Brokers for the MK1 Club. You'll need your club membership number.

Re: Classic car insurance
Yep, had all 5 of my SC's insured on Classic/Cherished policies through various companies Houghton being the main one, speak to Ken Salmon founder of the MK1 Club who arranges these at Houghton Insurance. Most I paid for a 1989 SC agreed value £4500 was £239.
Re: Classic car insurance
cool,
I need to get my 4x4 back on the road, can only fit 6 breeze blocks in the boot and 2 on the seat of my SC, as well as two bags of sand in the passenger footwell....
Shouldn't really use it for that I know hence I need to get the sc on classic and my 4x4 on the main insurance.
1answer won't do classic on an import, I tried.

I swear by Lancasters
my mk1b n/a £109
my mk1a n/a import £132
my mkb SC import £249
For some reason they dont suit everyone,
When my friend Tommy (coverco) tried
He was quoted a lot more!!!!!
