For a death in the family, Jumped in the Turbo , and set out on the M40 heading for the Port at Hollyhead...
All i will say the 2 was faultless - used 2.5tanks of fuel to Northern Ireland and back and lots of sprited driving on the coast roads and through Wales and over the limit on the Mways
12KM per Liter of Fuel used (33.3MPG if you want British figures) and a ave speed of 85KMH over 7 hours driving according to the HKS CAMP.
Not bad for a 17year old car.
Restored my faith in her after my 2 years of Head Gasket woes.

33mpg from a tubby?
WTF
WTF
Re: 15hours notice I had to drive from London to Northern Ireland
HKS CAMP measures the amount of fuel (cc) at any moment being injected - hence works out precisely the amount of fuel in Liters used and the trip ave of 12KM per liter used.
12km = 7.4 miles
1 gallon = 4.5 liters
4.5x7.4 = 33.3 MPG
Would have been a few more if I had not be ripping the ar$e off it.

I dont have a fancy computer but I usually stick 10 gallons in mine. The most I've ever got was 252 miles.

which is 45 liters at my 12km/l its 335miles per 45 liters.
I have got a Blitz ECU which is leaner
your getting around 25MPG to do 252miles per 45 liters or 9km per liter
Re: 15hours notice I had to drive from London to Northern Ireland
I know, having 10 gallon tanks makes it pretty simple to work out mpg lol.
I have a Dastek but it is running fairly rich.

How do you know for sure that you have 10 gallons in the tank?
Brim tank - reset trip counter
Drive around for a few miles (doesn't matter how many as long as you know how many)
Go back to petrol station and brim tank again - note how many litres you put in to do this known mileage.
Only accurate way to calculate
I'll get my coat ............
Re: 15hours notice I had to drive from London to Northern Ireland
I run it till it's about to run out then oddly enough it takes 45 litres of juice. 45 litres = 10 gallons. Then I run it till it was where it was - IE running on fumes. I take a look at the clocks, divide the number by 10 and hey presto - my average MPG per tank.
My best was done on a Santa Pod run. 100 miles there, 6 races then 100 miles back. Then I managed to get another 50 off miles out of what was left

Re: 15hours notice I had to drive from London to Northern Ireland
Clever, but still not as accurate as doing it properly

You got me sussed, mate
I actually spent about 3 hours scraping bubbled up tint off my rear window yesterday. What a shocker of a job! Been to Rogue today to get thermostat changed and check over. But I am a geek, yes

Re: 15hours notice I had to drive from London to Northern Ireland
1) Fill it up
2) Drive it like it was built to be driven
3) Who cares about how much it costs?
If cost is an issue there's some nice Ford KAs and Metros kicking about..

Yup its more than worth it i love it to bits, i will tone it down though but you have to take into account i have to save £100 every month on top of my petrol costs for the 5 year rebuild, £100pm for my insurance, £10 per month for my Tax, i stick £50 per month away for my MOT, £300 a year on oil, oil changes and general servicing, and £700 every 2 years for Tyres so it really dose add up, at the rate i am going i am knocking up a yearley running cost of just short of £9000,
There are idiots who buy them not knowing this and then leave them to rot when they cant fix them. you could get the cost lower by not driving it that often but i use mine as my daily driver so its gunna clock up some cash lol.
