Do i really need the anti-roll bar? URGENT RESPONCE REQUIRED

Post by SuperRedMR2 »

Hiya,

i am having my shocks and springs fitted today, but the garage cant get the rear drop links off, is it possible they can cut them off, remove the anti-roll bar and then fit the shock and spring, and me fit the new droplinks and roll bar a week or two later?

urgent replies needed as this is going to cost me a fortune!

you can run without it.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

If you're fitting new droplinks anyway then it should be ok to cut the old ones. Disconnecting droplinks at the strut end can be a pig but is much easier when the strut is off the car. I'd be surprised if they can't remove them from the arb end though.

By the way, if you're fitting uprated shocks then you can drive without the arb in the short term if you need to; if they're Koni's just make sure they're turned up to at least half way and you'll be OK.

I done a write up on this some time ago, if your getting new drop links anyway just cut the gaitor on the drop links & hold the ball joint with a pair of mole grips, if you were keeping the drop links, just cut a standard allen key down & slot it in the keyway at the top of the joint, never had a problem getting them out either way :-k

I've been without any ARBs for the past year and my car works just fine.

Should of just told them to cut and weld the drop links if they were in a hurry, i did this 9 months ago with mine and there still going strong.
