[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev4 turbo buying advice

Post by bottomendgone »

Hi guys (and/or girls)

I've been waiting for a while for the right tubby to come available, and I'm incredibly interested in this one >>
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/321729.htm

Now the bodywork and what not looks pristine, as does the dash and wheels, which are new, so I suppose they should.

Only issue i have with it is on the guy's website, there are more pictures, and it APPEARS that the two front seats are not the same. I know this usually means it's been tracked in Japland - can anyone offer more advice?
(guys website is www.f-b-i.co.uk )

Cheers

looks smart to me, not many vendors will go to the lengths to put videos up. goes without saying, go & have a look!
if you do buy, bin that exhaust, sounds bloody awful.

He is being very very co-operative, which i appreciate quite a bit.

I'd definitely bin the exhaust, powerflow or something. Stick a blitz on the end of it

Out of interest why do you want to buy one from a dealer when you get so much more for your money in value from members selling on here. There was a couple of white ones with tbars for a lot less and in great condition with expensive extras.upto you hope dont mind me saying but worth alook good luck anyways

It looks very nice, mine was that shiny when i got it.(makes me think it needs a damn good polish). I have to agree on the price issue thou. I only paid £3950 for my rev4 from a private sale and this was approx 8mths ago.
Also agree with exhaust comment, but berk is the way forward :D

I was looking at this the other day. It does look nice, but I agree you could probably get more for your money just now. There are so many bargians about. Is it the arty pics that are seducing you?

You can never tell for sure whether a car has been used on the track or not. It may drive fine but doesn't mean it's not been abused in the past. You'll just have to check all over the car and see if it looks like it's had a hard life. Check interior wear and evidence of crash damage etc.

Personally would not buy any car at any price with out a full AA type report back Inspection, period! Actually I would Insist Rogue Motorsport Inspected It top to bottom at my cost and and any faults sorted by the dealer and or If not just paid for the piece of mind knowing It Is perfect That white one does look really good If It also has the Japanese service records then a bonus. Presume they will convert to Miles per hour,de restrict, mot en road tax and register In the UK all part of the price and no other charges hidden or not.

I would be Inclined to buy an Import rather than a local supply due to salt roads and dubious maintenance/owner/s un less the member Is well known and also had the MR 2 fully cared for by the usual MR 2 specialist known here. There are only handful like that here! If you do decide to negotiate up against the trader/s best have your wits about yourself as mentioned and also focus on the bottom line deal and get It the hell out of there do not fall In to the trap of fancy alarms and what not stereos and other add on's whilst they have you In an emotional spin. Get In get out! Then leave the rest to advise you here! Make sure It come with a tank of petrol. :eye:
