Cheers Rob.

very interesting project you have there mate, will defo keep an eye on it, hope all goes well
Re: Making of a Mk1.6 (slowly)
Not too much more to report, the wiring progresses and a few other bits have been done:
My boot looks like it's been invaded by son of spaghetti monster:
The engine's looking a bit more healthy, although there still seems to be an endless number of things to do.
I've been mostly making sure all the gauges worked and connecting them up to the senders, that and rewiring the cam sensors and VVTI control. Alternator's about done which will just leave the wiring of the ECU.
Dash now does mostly what it's supposed to, the fuel pressure gauge still won't zero unless grounded but as it's 10-one hundred and something psi I guess it needs some pressure to work properly. :hmm:

It's nice to be putting things back together, my dash and surrounding trim is back on for the first time in over a year. lol

Looks great. Get a vid up as soon as its ready for WOT.

Update:
We have socks!
Well over the last few months I've been working when I can on the car and have got the wiring 99.9% done, only needing to wire in the lambda sensor but need an exhaust for that. The boot still looks sphaghetti monster lairish but shouldn't take too much to tidy it up.
I've replaced the P8 Pro with a DTA S80 which will do a better job with the VVTi. So anyone wanting a P8 it's here http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=121473
I bought a rather nice engine lid from Mr Woods which should fit the ITBs etc underneath.
The mechanicals of the engine are also 99% complete with the throttle linkage needing redesigning, remanufacturing etc. I eventually came up with this:
Seems to work ok but balancing the ol thing will be fun.
Plumbed in the oil cooler after many months trying to find a connector that would fit to my sandwich plate, turned out to be 3/8 BSP tapered :
I still need to get the exhaust manifolds and mid section done then it's tune, insure, MoT & tax.

Re: Making of a Mk1.6 (slowly)
Outstanding
Re: Making of a Mk1.6 (slowly)
Cheers Paul, means a lot coming from your good self.
I've been playing with the engine temperature sensors and have plotted out the mV that the ECU sees vs the temperature that the sensor is exposed to. It was a bit of a ghetto setup involving an old (but accurate) mercury thermometer from our lab and a mug of hot/cold water.
I'm assuming that the sensors are all linear and don't do anything silly up around 100 of degrees centigrade (my thermometer only went up to 120 deg F ).
I'll be getting a pressure reading from our lab barometer and checking against the MAP sensor at lunch.

Off to have her manifolds and mid section fabricated to fit your old HKS system on the 16th of next month, then tuning.
Re: Making of a Mk1.6 (slowly)
Here's what you old exhaust looks like on a Mk1 Leon.
Bit of boot tidying in progress.

Good fit, beast
Re: Making of a Mk1.6 (slowly)
She's back from the exhaust fabricators (Powerspeed in Ashford)!
I dived under and took a few pics for your delectation, scuse the crappy camera phone pics I didn't jack the car up..
Front bank, looks like they've gone a bit close to the oil filter but won't know until I get under properly:

The primaries are lovely and long and it looks extremely well put together.

That looks a class job!
(Also the next one on my TC, looks like you are in front again ).

Coming along nicely Chris.. ready for JAE? (2010!!)
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Well she started last night for a short while so we're getting there, Andy (Luthor1) came over and had a play with the ECU (HUGE thanks to him).
Running batch fire injectors and wasted spark at the moment so there's much to do to get both the cam sensors and the VVTi into play.
Re: Making of a Mk1.6 (slowly)
Does this mean that Tonis will be starting next week
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.
