[Mk2] [Turbo] another one bites the dust: New Update 17/10/09

Post by redeye32uk »

Well after the joys of the wife picking up her new car yesterday comes the downfall of today....
Taking the car to my mates for its MOT first thing i pull onto the M-way slip road just befor 8am, befori know anything the backs overtaking the front and the armco is comming at me...... Bang followed by another as my head hits the door an the back then hits the armco again as i do a 360.
Next thing i know is im being helped from the car as 3 or 4 cars have stopped and everyones going on about ice and that the gritters haven't been out...... no help now but the pics tell all to say im gutted don't even come close.

Within 5 mintes there was a wagon sweeping up the mess and the guy said theres ice in the dip at the start of the slip road.As it was being put on the lowloader a gritter came past, an hour and a half after the avent when all the ice had meltted.
You can see the ice here.

Took out the armco support and i think its pushed the front over a touch so looks like a rightoff :pale: :( ......

oh mate, really know how you feel, miss mine sooo much but i learnt that its only a chunk of metal and atleast your still here for your family,
give it a couple of days mate and youl be fine with everything,
shame it takes someone to have a crash before they grit the fecking roads though, all the road fund licence we pay, where does it go ](*,)
Anyway mate chin up and have many have said, not all is lost :(

Man that sucks. I nearly got caught out this morning on my way to work at 630. I saw them out gritting the dual carriage ways, but the side roads we're pretty tricky even in a vectra diesel!

Thanks for all the comments, just gotta see what the assesor says but sure its a rightoff..... i'll be back.
Having to use Sues new PT Cruiser till its all sorted, bonus in everything i suppose.... gotta look on the bright side, i'm ok and its just metal (its not but it's what i'm telling myself).
Sue drove on the same bit of road (J3 north slip road on the M5) 4 hrs later and they have warning tryangles up with the skid wavey lines on. Buggers

Holy xxxx! :pale:

That's a horrible sight mate, this was one of my favourite MR2's and watched it progress over time.

Sorry to see the pics mate and more importantly, glad you're around to write this thread.
