Exactly, when I bought my sherwood, it was too good to race with and no-one wanted to buy it off me for the money it was worth (origonal arches and all).

So it got stripped. The first shoe it went to people were saying how I ruinied it. It was their fault for not buying it

It is a shame to do, but at the end of the day for the same money you coul sell it for you wouldnt be able to get a car of the same quality.

I was one of the people who "when asked for an opinion" said no don't do it!!

but now giving it a bit more thought, Steves car was not in standard trim so was only really an SE in colour as most of the "special" parts were missing. so Pauls work would seem to have enhanced what was at best a good solid base but not a museum piece!

its deffinately a "Super Conversion" if no longer a "Super Edition" well done Steve for being brave enough to go against opinion and well done Paul your quality of work speaks for itself

a very honest post there kevin :thumleft: ,i think when its all put into perspective steve now has a very fast mk1,that has a very long lifespan before it sees any rot...hes futureproofed his ownership using this car.If it was a mint condition original spec SE i too would have advised against converting it.

Anyway, fire up is imminent! then i get to drive the worlds first 1.5 SE,should be stonking,i'll do a vid or something.

as Paul has said he aims to encourage more DIY builds and is not touting for work
I have a huge build plan and engine is only one aspect of this, but I first need the right car to begin with, I don't want to waste any time chasing away tin worm then lose my enthusiasm.
at the risk of being burned at the stake I may even start with a
