[Mk2] [Turbo] What should my 0-6 times be?

Post by Greddy-Matt »

Just wondering what my 0-60 times should be? My car isn't "feeling" very quick at the moment, and although passengers are saying different, out of curiosity I had someone time the car in the passenger seat yesterday to 60 and I'm curious to see what I "should" have got with the folowing.

Mods: Rev 3 with:
Apexi induction kit
Greddy intercooler
Downpipe
Nur Spec
Standard Falken 452's
1.0 bar of boost

what do you guys think?

how much wheelspin when you set off ? spinning will kill your times, (so will bogging at the start) ... still, between 5 and 7 seconds on the stop watch (will could be a second or more out depending on the person pressing the button).

Ok well thats pretty much what i got, runs between 5-6 seconds so thats not bad guess I'm just getting used to the cars grunt then....
Jim will it do 60 in second? I was changing into third 50-55?
First attempt way too much revs and just sat there spinning, less revs and was I was only getting a little wheelspin in first and a tiny twitch in second (bit eager with the throttle changing into second)...

Surely you can tell if your car is running right without resorting to getting the stop watch out? If you have someone in the car watching the speedo until the indicated 60MPH, that is not going to be accurate... you should be able to tell if the car is running correctly. It should feel quicker than usual at the moment due to the colder air.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

but he's got used to it. these cars feel really fast when you first get them, then after a while, you get used to that power, they don't feel as quick anymore ... they are, you just don't get the same "shock and awe" experience. that's one of the biggest problems, to try and get that feeling back again you need to add more power, get used to it again, add more power and on and on and on.

It just feels very flat at the moment, its better after 3500rpm it seems to get a wiggle on, yes I agree its not a very accurate way of doing it but I wanted to know if it was me getting used to the car or the car underperforming if that makes sense?

Simple solution, do what I do.

Drive economically for a week or 2, no high revs, takin roundabouts in 3rd maybe even 4th instead of 2nd. Watch the petrol gauge stay where it is lol (you'll save money too)

Then after about a week and a half/2 weeks.......open the taps! Then you'll see how quick they are and all that love'll come straight back

...failing that, drive your mums/mates for a few days (obviously if they have a Skyline or Veyron this ain't gonna work lol). Then get back in yours.. :D

Only did that about a month ago, plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor etc...

I like the driving it steady for a week or 2 I got about 210 miles out of the last tank!

get it dynoe'd mate. if its above 200whp and std / above torque, then you know your 0-62 time cannot be more than 5.4sec!

remember, a passenger will slow the car down!

Or, build yourself a 2.2stroker 5sfe block with gt3582r, 1150cc inj's , drag tyres and c-16 then do 0-62 in less than 3 seconds :P that will make it feel fast again

Sorry to tell you this but a turbo box wont make 60 in 2nd. Max is (I think) 56mph. The N/A gearbox will make 62 in 2nd. There are manuals about that tell you this. Will take a piccy of mine that says this.

Unless your redline is different, you wont make 60! Don't try [-X

Unless you have experience in hard launches you will not get close to the stock figure of 5.2 matey :thumleft:

For an every day driver with limited launch experience i would say expect anything from 6-6.5 secs........

Turn the boost up!! 8) Give her a bit of 1.2 \:D/
