Guildford midnight run*special* rally

Post by redmk1 »

ok this is just an idea im floating around at the moment, its based on malcolms already popular midnight run,but this one will involve tasks on a time trial (scatter rally).
a route will be planned and objects placed in certain places for drivers to find, each driver will have a navigator and once all objects are found you must return to the finishing line by a certain time otherwise points will be docked, there could be a prize for the winning team!
we may need some help in organising this so any ideas would be helpful or even marshalling would be handy,so if you got any ideas or would be interested doing this put names down and ideas.

Nice idea. Logistical nightmare, and potentially illegal if you get caught. Especially if you say its being timed.

Not illegal - no more illegal than any of the runs.
The idea of a time is to have a specific time to be back by - not being timed officer, just a meet up time.
Not really a logisitcal nightmare, just needs setting up.

Can either be done by there being a box of coloured nails at each point and you have to collect one of each colour or it can be location specific, like how many rungs on a specific gate, or colour of a trailer at a psecific point, that sort of thing.
I am going to live forever, or die trying!

Done them before with Brum Uni MC and they're great fun, but it was simply a sheet of about 40 clues of varying difficulty which gave you grid references. It was up to each team to solve clues before they left and then plot their own routes, devision of driving and clue solving is also up to the individual teams.

For Richard to read.

No U turn, just seeing it from a different angle. The only time trials I've been on have been cross europe events, and all have had major police action. Something like this though, with the explenations given above should avoid all that though.

spectrum is as good of a place as any to start/finish. Unless somewhere a little more out of town was wanted. Depends on route really.

i think out of town would be better cos like you said before about the police plus if we were all in a lit car park late at night we would look like chavs, but then i suppose it were out of town we'd look like cottagers lol so i think spectrum would be good :thumleft:

I doubt there would be many people around a car park at the time of night we're talking about anyway. I guess it doesn't have to be guildford we meet at.

Maybe get to the McDonalds at the 272 cross roads just past southwater so we can meet up have a hot chocolate and sort the night out. If they're open at that time

I live 5-10 mins from guildford and would be interested if not tied up elsewhere (and car comes back from garage this week working properly... :-) )
