What did I miss here ??

I've got both ! The Cerbera is untouchable above 120 mph ... unless you've got a big blower on your MR2 .. like me !!

Earl... I see you're still cheeky !!

I'm not biased... I can just sit on the fence... and the Cerbs do pull very well at high speeds. 150 mph+ is funny.... just going into 5th.... and just keeps pulling and pulling... shaped to go through the wind and geared to go fast.... though the gearings are a little long !!

shabz... I know the MR2 turbo is a very quick car.. but the Cerbera in 1st is unreal if it can connect to the ground.... big critisism I have is it just lights up the tyres in 1st... 2nd will be neck and neck( Boosted turbo rev 3 )... 3rd and when it starts pulling like a train to 120 mph, then into 4th .. long long gearing ! :?

Tractions a bit of a eye opener.. it actually stepped out in the rain accelerating from 100 the other day..... Clean pair of shorts please

I saw the video mate, off the line he took it. Whether it be down to driver error or not for the launch the cerb wasn't pulling on him through the gears either till third. What i mean is, even after the launch the cerb stayed the same distance behind... maybe even trailed a little just after going into second then got reeled in.

I was in front of JJ in his Cerbera for about 15 miles the other Sunday and trust me he could not get past me.

It was on the A686 Penrith to Alston road mind you. :D

I was there on Sunday as well as Tony ,

I was in a slightly tuned Supra twin 6sp manual and the cerbra kicked its ass so a boosted tubby just hasnt got the ratios to play that ball game

A boosted tubby will hit 164mph in top, depending on the cerbera, they do from 170mph (4.0 speed six) through 180mph (4.2) to 195mph (4.5). BHP ranges from 350 to 420bhp.

Never raced one myself, so can't comment. I'd guess you'd need 350 flywheel to have a reasonable shout up to 150. I'm sure EarL's would easily hang on to 164 if not beat them due to way more power and better gearing choices.

I was sure the MR2 was as slippery as the Cerbera...

Luthor,

Rolling start from 30 mph, my MR2 turbo will have my Cerbera.. combination of gearing and forced induction through a big turbo will get to 150 before the cerbera. I've had my Mr2 round to 7800 rpm in top gear .. so you do the math on speed... its above 170 I know that ! The gearing simply inst there on the MR2 for big speeds.

Most Cerbs 4.5's do between 195 and 205 mph stock @ 7K rpm... Red Rose converted ones will do around 210 !! thats silly numbers !!

Remember luthor, the car weighs between 1100 - 1200 kg... so its easy to see why it still accelerates very quickly at higher speeds.

i love em!!!!!
would have to be a 4.5 rose tho :thumleft:

JJ, do you think some lovely big thick tyres would help with that traction, on 17s maybe in stead of the 19-20s they come with as stock......(complete guess)....???

personally if my car was ever quicker up to say 100 than a tvr, i would have a very tough choice on my hands. 120+mph really is no point on public roads.
altho they look fri88ing awsome..(or tuscan)!
:thumleft:

saying all that, dont they get to 100 in like 9 seconds...not many tubbies would keep with that.
11-11.99 second 1/4mile tubbies maybe.

Hey Jim,

The tyres need changing out for some R888's or similar sticky stuff.... they're 255's stock...banan skins though... just need to be a lot stickier IMO.

My MR2 pre big turbo ( Hybrid CT-26 ) on a build engine was hitting 116 mph with a 12.4*.

With an extra squirt of nitrous it was in the 11's with et's increased. But I have no proof other than the failed quarter mile I did at TOTB years ago... 12.14 @ 99... I was down 15+ odd mph over the line from the previous weeks runs.

Cerb 4.5
0-100 - 8.1 Secs

Hows that car of yours going ?? Havent heard you complaining in a while ??!

Only the 4.5 litre will hit anywhere near 195 *genuine* mph. I'm certain of that. Weight is irrelevant to top speed, and sub 400bhp just WONT push a car to 195.

They are fast though, I'll give them that. Don't much like their reliability though, would prefer to spend £13k on EarL's 479bhp monster. Bet it's pretty reliable, since it's only pushing 1bar of pressure, hardly a strain is it?
