Can anyone point me to a guide on fitting a new front wing to an AW11?
I've only done one before and that was on a mate's Polo and was a bit quick and dirty. I've recently been playing with my spray gun I bought ages ago and reckon I'd like to have a crack at doing the wing myself, but I'm not sure how much trim and stuff needs to come off.
Thanks in advance,
Glenn

Re: Front wing replacement
I did one on my mk1a in April. I had the front bumper off at the same time (as it was being repaired) but you dont necessarily have to remove it. Its just a bit fiddly getting to the bolts that hold the wing to the slam panel.
2-3 bolts on slam panel
1 bolt at bottom of wing on side skirt
1 bolt at top near windscreen
4 along the top
An idea to remove the arch liner as well, as it gets in the way a bit
May need to take the front part of the side skirt off, as it helps for manueverability when putting it back on, unless you have the model with no side skirts of course.
Fairly easy to do. I did mine in half an hour

Thanks
Thanks folks, sounds very straightforward.
As soon as I can get organised I'll start prepping the new wing.

Re: Front wing replacement
I did both of mine earlier in the year, the only hard bit are the bolts which attach the bumper and valance to the wing. Mine were rusted solid and ended up having to dremel them off. It really is straightforward but be prepared for rusted solid bolts and you may shear some, especially the one at the bottom of the wing at the door, get yourself a 5mm drill and a 6mm tap before you start
Re: Front wing replacement
I replaced one recently, and the only problem I had was I replaced the wing and did all the other bolts up, only to shear the one by the door!
Had to drill it out and re-tap and bolt. Was fine then...

Very easy to change the wing...
watch this video...if you can put up with Brewer's waffle then Edd China gets the job done.

Re: Front wing replacement
Great timing on this thread - I'm about to take my offside front wing tonight for tinworm treatment.
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

Just watched the Wheeler Dealers prog on YouTube all the way through and that is amazing, especially what Ed did to those wheeels. Ended up looking on Autotrader to see if there were any cheap MK1s about (no).
I'm guessing that show is on a channel I don't get 'cos I don't have Sky.
Thank the fates for YouTube - essential viewing.
PS I don't mind Brewer, I'd rather listen to him talk common sense than Clarkson talking about the size of his endowment any day!

Re: Front wing replacement
I've recently found out that I have fibreglass front wings, Does anyone know where they come from?

Wings
I wouldn't worry, just look after them.
Lighter and won't rust. Wish I had a pair.
