[Mk2] [Turbo] ARP Flywheel bolts Torque?

Post by unyonion »

Hi quickly does anyone know

a: what torque do the standard turbo flywheel bolts need to be?

b: What torque the ARP flywheel bolts need to be?

Reason I'm asking is my clutch 'specialist!' has told me there is 1mm gap between the Fidanza & ARP bolts so it wobbles? I assume he has used the standard torque settings?

Please help as he has put the standard bolts back in!!!! and put the car back together!!!!

the fidanza has oval cut outs to enable dual pcd fitment to 5sfe, st165 3sgte crank and later 3sgte cranks...not happy with this idea myself!

ARP come with lube, install / torque instruction inside.

95 FT/LBS with LOC-TITE
85 FT/LBS with ARP moly lube

;) >> use stud lock / loc-tite, its what some race engines use, same with locking wire..

stud lock lubricates thread for install, process requires experience otherwise you can have problems, once set requires impacting for removal. race engine use stud lock for maximum safety for these reasons...

its probably better to follow the arp guide of install, just go easy on lube , making sure its all cleaned away before clutch installed, as when flywheel warmed up, lube gets spun out under centrifugal force all over friction plate...

new fixings should be pre torqued a few times before use ,its also worth noting lengths , useful when its stripped next time round for inspection / service.. ones that been stressed show an increase.

Cheers Buddy thats what I needed to know... so off to clutch guy to check what he did.

O I got 72lb-lbs from BGB? near enough I suppose

There is no way there should be a 1mm gap from bolts-flywheel so any idea what he may have done wrong?

Also the ones I got from GTSChris don't have have any lube or instructions from the look of it?

Cheers, Mark

get him to take it back off and check the end of the crank is not burred or have any debris behind it.

i fitted my lightened flywheel with arp bolts to 85ftlbs,using moly lube
(tightened in a union jack type sequence)which came in the boxed kit with instructions(usa ebay)
i didnt have this issue, but the crank was polished and balanced before hand.
the engineer pointed out both front and rear where the crankshaft oil seals
fit as quite rough ,polished up a treat though.
