Elvington today!

Post by Graeme Shaw »

First time for me today, and loved it!

Holy moly.

Car seemed to run fantastic, but i need to improve my response time thingy.

Managed a 13.72 @104mph.
Think i could have done better, but on the third run my clutch was slipping all over the place, thought i had burnt it out, and its uprated!

Steve C was gonna have a go in mine but on my last run there was a loud crack from the back of my car. Seems ok but hope i have`nt done owt major.
Cheers to Steve for coming down and showing me the ropes!

You might have glazed the surface of the clutch with a few quick starts - drive it 'normally' for a couple of weeks and the glazed patches may wear off giving you good clutch grip again.

Was a good day, bit the bullet in the end and registered later in the day.

Got some good runs in with me and my mate Darren both using my car.

Got one awesome run in with him driving after we got the boost controller sorted, just waiting for confirmation on the Straightliners site on the time.

Good turnout was very pleased to see so many there.

i was at elvington yesterday aswell! :D

wasnt running though.. havent sold the pug yet so i havent got anything worth running.. wouldnt want to embarrass myself by running the pug.. which running at its best might win the 15.5 class! 8) that would be 15.5 minutes btw

lol

but saw some nice cars! even though it was abit nippy.. at least the sun was out.. a good day overall, as pete (my mate with the yellow R32 GTR won the 11.5 class and Andy with the white prelude won the 15.5 class) \:D/

unfortunately Tim with the 'top secret' gold R33 GTR went home early with a bust gear box.. not good #-o

erm yeh your MR2 was the sparkly one?! lol :D

yes was nice to talk to you, sorry i walked off, but was abit miffed at that woman (supposedly with a GT4) who blanked me and cut right into our conversation! [-( how rude i thought! with her constant questioning to you of 'so what ya running.. what ya running' i was so tempted to snub her and say 'eh more than you love' lol

Andy F ! What the......

Hi John
More problems
Do you remember when my oil pump pully came off just after the build and the cams picked up, well i think it must be something to do with that.
As i went into 3rd i looked in the mirror and there was smoke pilling out of the engine lid, then when i backed off i could here a loud metalic tapping sound, when i got the car home (towed) i removed the cam cover and a couple of the loabs were kind of rounded on the sharp edge, gonna get the head off in the next couple of days and see/hope that nothings happened to the pistons
Besides that, the car was crap 13.5s again
20k and the car is slower than it was before................nice!!! ](*,)

Sorry to see u pulled over at the top of the strip, sorry i didnt stop, but i wasnt sure if i was able to! Hope its nowt too bad.

I think your right about the clucth slip, it seems fine now. Is this comman if u overheat even the uprated ones?

Richie S
Were you the guy in the black 2?
I was in the silver one.
If u have a look in my profile for my mods as i cant think of them all!
Only had two good runs!

JJ
I will definatly go again!
I wouldnt mind letting someone with a little more experience have a go in my car, just to see what it can do.
Got no idea what that crack was, i was thinking maybe cv joint or clutch plate? Seems to be driving fine though?

Think thats everyone!

Long story Elmo, but here goes
When i first orderd the new oil pump from Fenspot, it came with no pully on, buy this time i had stripped my engine so i removed my old pully wheel slid it on the shaft of the new one, thhen through the old pump away.
The guy who was going to build my engine kept putting me back (10 months), so i then got in touch with Ian ashton who then started the build a further 4 months later,so basics is i forgot to tighten it up!! so all this crap just cos of that...............builders beware
