Re: Cadwell MR2 CHALLENGE in-car footage *****VIDEO*****
who was that total bandit in the #50 car at the start??
Looks like so much fun- i want a go!!!!!
I'm suprised you aren't wearing gloves.. i thought it was mandatory? If there is a fire you could do with the 7seconds or so the nomex lining gives you. .

results can be found http://www.750mc.co.uk/
but as we only race with 750mc but are separate some results have changed after (due to disqualifications etc).
We get the results via an ezine we subscribe to, not sure how everyone else does, the website when its updated I guess.

She's not the only one! . But if you notice Sarah let's the clutch back in really slowly so as to not unsettle the back end of the car. The other person I know who doesn't heel and toe has a different style. Change down and then evidently side step the clutch pedal! Apart from anything else that causes crankshaft wind up, causing slight bend = damaged bearings = BANG! Another blown engine...
I wonder if anyone can guess who I'm talking about.....

Its not my fault my feet are so big I physically cant heel and toe in a mk1. I even have a 300mm wheel to try and give me the leg clearance to get at the accelerator, you saw me in betty, I couldnt even sit in it properly
new bigger pedals coming though.

Well i noticed that into Park, Sarah locked the wheels on the downchange. Heel and toeing is absolutely essential for racing.

what a load of poo!
2005 champion T.Gillam never heeled & toed it is for the driver to do what is best for them, i locked up because i carried to much speed onto the new tarmac and made an error.
and it seems to me as heel & toeing can cause accidents Lauren....PEMBREY
no malice intended just an observation.

Actually Sarah you are quite right i did slip off the brake on the downchange which resulted in me shunting Sam up the ar$e. But really, the main reason for heel and toeing is to make your driving smoother and not unsettle the car when you are trying to set it up for a corner.
I still say its essential if you want to be quick as its defo worth time. Is there any reason why you haven't learnt how to do it?

Re: Cadwell MR2 CHALLENGE in-car footage *****VIDEO*****
smoothness is essential - if you want to be quick. A smooth lap will always be your fastest, and if you're driving at the limit, step changes in rotational speed of any of the road wheels is not a clever idea.
The fellas in 750 formula's biggest tip for us newbies (when i ran the race team) was to learn to heel and toe, and the closeness of their racing and skill is astounding (some of them have been driving the same car in the series since before i was born - if they haven't mastered the art, I don't know who has).
If your heel and toeing is not smooth, then it might cost you time, but if you can work out how to heel and toe smoothly, i'd guarantee you'll be quicker.
btw tim - Alex can heel and toe, so you're just being a girl

lol.
Tom thought the same, then saw me try and sit in Garricks car and was shocked.
But should be all ok now with some pedal flaps

But my car is not a challenge car or even race prepped. The seats are far too high, but I have no real means of getting them lower as two of us drive the car and we need to shift the seat forward/back.
I can heel-toe in my car no probs Although I need more practice as I still unsettle the car a lot

Hmm, well, that would suggest to me a couple of things then ..
1) That Heel & Toeing would give you a massive competitive advantage over the other racers, since you'll be able to brake later & harder without worrying about locking up the rears on the way in to a corner. Since the car is better balanced, you'll be able to get on the power sooner as well.
2) That perhaps the driving standards aren't that high, and if you did 1) and a bit of instruction / practice on the more technical circuits, that you would be tres competitive.
