[Mk2] [Turbo] engine removal question... not too technical :D

Post by RyanRs »

When i come to remove the gear linkage, is there any specific position i have to put the gear lever in ?? to basically make sure i dont balls up the setting of me gear lever?

Also, on the turbo to downpipe to cat pipes .. what bolts are the ones that usually snap?? i ask as i removed all 5 of the turbo to downpipe bolts earlier today without any hassle.. was very happy, but due to the ease of them comming off, i wonder if its not them that are the ones prone to snapping??

thanx

just leave the gear linkage where it is when you disconect it(neutral inside the car)the bolts that are prone to snapping are the ones conecting the cat to the (piping between the turbo and cat)been there, done it,pain in the a*** without the right tools...good luck #-o

Turbo turbine nuts are normally fine. It's the elbow-to-cat bolts that snap.

The gear linkages aren'ta problem either, the mechanism is very simple to figure out if it does get knocked into a gear.
