[Mk2] [Turbo] Getting custom centre caps made?

Post by Spacey »

I've been looking for a set of centre caps for my Enkei RP01s for ages. None of the usual places seem to think they can get them and it's been suggested that I get some made.

I don't even know where to start asking about this! Might be an opportunity to get carbon ones or something a bit flash but I've got no idea of who could do something like this.

Looking at the wheel, the cap would have been quite basic. Just a disc that sits flush to the lip of the opening. Quite how it'd be secured I'm not sure. Ideas on a post card pls!

I bought a set of standard Mr T centre caps....and hand painted the "T" logo with black enamel paint. Yours would look good painted red:

Hiya mate.
Try Smiths or TSW wheels... I've got Smiths with a silvered concave centre dish with logo'd hexagonal centre cap that just screws on.... You can also get a special plastic spanner thingy to remove em to get to the studs...
Should be just the thing...
Good luck.
Rob.

cheers for replies.

The original centre caps never covered the studs, just the hole in the centre like this:

RedWitch that sounds line an idea mate. What car/model are those caps from? Other than the paint did you have to modify them to fit the hole?

I've managed to find a few people on ebay selling incomplete sets of wheels and caps today so I've sent a load of begging emails to see if I can land at least 1 orginal Enkei cap. I'll then give it to a friend of a friend who makes carbon parts for bikes to see if he can copy it.

guess we'll see what happens before I get all blue peter on my wheels ;)

ya know the spray can lid trick will do the job fine ;) :thumleft:

if you wanted go a step further order some alloy badges of ebay n attach them to the spray can lid :D \:D/
or stick with true bluepeter style and paint a T on :)

The caps I used are standard Mt T caps, I think they are 54mm diameter. Bought them off eBay for about £12 and painted the logo with enamel model paint.

alloys

Have a look at classic car spares on eBay
as a example dolomite sprint alloys had a silver center cap that stuck out
check out other classic car wheels
they should fit and might be cheaper

cool I'll drop him a PM, thanks mate. Still not shure how these would be secured as they're just discs. Don't know if they'd need clip rings etc.
