Anti freeze

Post by sr7 »

Hi,

I was told by the previous owner you can only use Mr T coolant, from the post on the forum, it seems that you can use any good anti freeze. Is that correct?

I am changing the rad, so I will be replacing all of the coolant (13.7 Litres).
What ratio of anti freeze to water should I use?

Thanks
Turbo-G

It depends what antifreeze you go for, as some require different mixing ratio's, this is stated on the bottle. Also consult your handbook as ti will probbaly say the reccomended doseage :P

Toyota Red Forlife coolant won't require and mixing and will probbaly out live your new radiator.

I'm pretty sure you can use any coolant that is Ethylen Glycol.

EDIT: Have a look at this recent thread as it is being discussed there:

You can use any ethylene glycol coolant, but it must be this type, and you must dilute it to the correct level. A 100% concentrate of ethylene glycol coolant should have 50% water/50% coolant mix.

Forlife is the correct type and already comes diluted and ready to go straight in.

Mines got blue stuff in, but its the correct type!

Forlife is a con as you're paying for half a tub of water. As has been said, just use a decent ethylene glycol anti-freeze at a 50/50 ratio.
