my tubby Vs 911 carrara, and 360 ferrari!!!!

Post by jimGTS »

Done around 500miles this weekend

Had a play with a few cars (was bored really), but these 2 were cool!!

911, was both on an empty scretch of the motorway, with one car infront of the 911, i was behind!! due to space infront of all of us, i knew he would floor it when the car infront pulled over, so so did i!! was EXTREMELY impressed that i was constantly gaining, and as soon as i hit around 4-5rpm, (120mph) i was gaining even faster until i was on his backside!! i proved my point, so backed off as you do. orginally thought it was the slower 911 boxster model, but when i got closer, it had the carrara badge and a funny lip sort of rear spoiler (w reg)!! what are the specs on these, cause i clearly had him really!
and when i went past miles later, he and his misses had a good old stare at my motor , lol :-) :-)

360, saw a really nice 360 on the motorway to, thought i follow him just to get a better look at the car! i must of been behind him for around 20mins, until the road cleared completey, and he and i floored it!! even though i was a good 20m behind to begin with, i was constantly at the same distance all the way from 80-140mph! (naughty naughty i know, but i gota show that ferrari driver the mr2s got a big punch!). COULDNT BELIEVE IT!!! im pretty got dam sure he was flooring it, as we kept the same distance apart all that time!! if hed have lifted off i would of instantly gained, so i think he was gunning it as well!

really got me thinking whether my 2 is standard engine wise! as surely both of these should have killed me!! maybe not though!

ive a rev2 gts turbo, racing struts, racing suspension and toms exhaust, thats it!

ps, before anyone says anything, yes i know i should not be doing those speeds, but sometimes EVERYONE likes to open there cars out a bit! anyone who says they dont open theres up a lil bit are lieing :-)

I don't think the 360 tried. I've run into a 360 on a dual carriage way near me. I wasn't keeping up.

I tried to keep up with a Carrera a few months ago, and he was getting away, slowly but not that fast.

The model I raced I looked up to be 305bhp I think.

You did well to gain on one coz i would have thought they are at least 280bhp.

I've raced 360's at Brunters, they are very very very fast, had he given it large, he'd have totaly wasted you (my terminal was 145, his was 177, after 1.5 miles - I had 244bhp at the time)

i TOTALLY realise he would have killed me if he properly tried!! what im sayig it that he tried to get away from me with a great deal of his power (obviously not 100%), but it didnt happen! he must of been suprised i kept with him up to those speeds, but i do know that if he planted his foot to the floor it would of been bye bye!

IM NOT FOR ONE SECOND SAYING I DONE A FERRARI 360! i never said that!

I beat a 360 Spyder in my tubby over 2 years ago, he was one-up, I was 2-up.

My spec at the time was giving 330bhp. Even my passenger was freaked by it, let alone the Ferrari driver - he wasn't happy at all. :-D

This was in a straight line, and was only done once, but judging from my best SQM time, I'm not surprised I had a slight edge on him. Remember also that the Spyder is the heaviest/slowest version of the 360.

I think they're about 400bhp, but it goes to show that performance is not all in the numbers, or rather, there are other numbers to consider. ;)

A 360CS is 400bhp, not the 'regular' 360.

Do a search on Google with "power output ferrari 360". The first page results show them all pretty much saying 400bhp. Then do a search for "power output ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale". One link says 425bhp (which is what I recall seeing in the press).

On Ferrari's own website, under "Yesterday - competition - recent", they have a 2002 360GT at 430bhp. Look under "Yesterday - road - 90s", and you'll see that the 1997 355F1 produced 380bhp.

That's not to say that they actually all produce that though! ;)

was just having a play really.

PS, yes i know these cars would kill me, i just wanted to prove the point to these 2 cars that these tubbys are fast as well!

i think everyones under the impression i think my car is faster in all areas. thats not true.
