Sounds about right for that low profile 18" tyre.

I run 40psi rear and 38psi front on my 235/40R17s and 205/40R17s

I'm running 18" wheels with 225/35 front and 225/45 rear. What pressure do you guys think I should be putting in them. Local tyr place said 30psi front and 29psi rear.

Also, am i running good size tyres for the car/wheels??

Std tyre pressures + 2psi for each inch of oversize that would make it 29+6= 35psi front, 32+6= 38psi rears.

Why should they need more pressure than standard?

Can't think of a valid reason. :-k

Your local tyre place is either inept or doesn't realise the engine/driving wheels on an mr2 are in the rear. You need more pressure in the rear tyres on an mr2.

I think my drive shafts have recently gone on my front wheel and I think this is due to having 18's.

Can someone tell me if this is true? and what would be the best way from stopping this happening too often if it is due to the weight of the 18's

Heavier wheels will put more strain on the hubs, as will spacers and wheels with smaller offsets.

If you've managed to damage a front drive shaft i'll be well impressed. Likely you've just ruining the hub bearings and will need a new set pressed in.
