Good bye to all, MR2 sold MX5 ordered!

Post by steve b »

Just to say good bye and thanks to everyone on here who have helped and advised me how to spend my money over the last 4 years of MR2 ownership .

My car will more than likely make a re-appearance better than ever as Ryan aka MR2lover's younger brother has bought the car. Be cool to maybe see it in Banzia looking as good as Ryans.

I on the other hand am looking forward to owning a slightly younger vintage MX5, placed the order with an Importer this afternoon to get me a 1996 Brilliant black V-Special, with tan leather interior, Nardi wooden steering wheel & gear knob, powersteering, 7 spoke alloys, electric windows & door mirros & Torsen LSD.

Sure i'll still post occasionally here.

cheers everyone :D

In all fairness they are regarded as a bit of a girls car, but they'll outhandle any SW20 :)

Once its had the FM2 kit fitted it'll also out drag most sw20s

Kit Specification:

Garrett GT28 Ball Bearing Turbo, 0.64 A/R Turbine, 0.60 A/R C ompressor
Cast exhaust manifold
2.5” Downpipe
16 x 8 x 2.5” bar and plate intercooler
Intercooler pipes powdercoated black or red
Cold air box
Aluminium blow off valve
Colour matched silicon hoses
Constant torque hose clamps
Oil feed/drain and water lines
Heatshielding
FM Link ECU, tuning keypad, air temperature sensor, boost control valve, knock sensor, custom FM software
RC Engineering 440 or 550cc/min injectors
Full instructions and associated hardware

so nice to have so many choices of kits like this :)

Good luck Steve - Hope you don't miss your '2 that much.

If you wanted something that handles well and goes well, you know you should have got a Roadster and Turbo'd it  :D

It was the hardest decision I had to make. It was either MR2 Roadster or MX5. The MX5 actually having a tiny bit of storage over none was what swung it in the end.

Prefer the look of the mk3, prefer the mid engined layout but it is too impractical. I'd have may as well got a westfield as it would have never been used except track days.

Don't worry you'll like it. I had an MX5 for a while. Great car i thought. Also really enjoyed the topless motoring, far less buffeting than a t-bar.

Been there, you're going the opposite way to me ;)
Greddy turbo kits from US were about £700 when I had my 1.6 :) (The 1.6 lump was intended to be a tubby engine anyway so the turbo fitment was a natural choice) - The later 1.8s take well to supercharging, more of a big engine feel and more in keeping with an MX5 really.
Loved the MX5 though, a blast to drive :)
Have fun!

Yes a MX5 is a very different beast to a Tubby but each to their own. One day i will have my own tubby and will feel more a part of this community. :)
