Final Video from Anglesey

Post by BenF »

OK, its done :D

I've been working on it most of this afternoon and evening, viewing all the footage that was taken over the weekend, picking out bits worth adding to the clip and then putting it all togther.

Thanks to Alex and Martin for letting me use their digital photos in the video footage. :thumleft:

The complete clip is 4:10 in length - I've done a high (20MB) and very high quality (40MB) encoded version of the file, both using Windows Media.

Here are the links:

Standard quality, (20MB)
http://www.imoc.co.uk/videos/Anglesey_O ... hmusic.wmv

Very High Quality (40MB)
http://www.imoc.co.uk/videos/Anglesey_O ... hq_pal.wmv

Whilst you're waiting for the download, just playing through the clip, here's what it contains:

Photo Gallery from Saturday AM
Footage from first track sessions - people going around School -Tom, Si (laughing as he nails it), Me (also pleased with the line)
Tom - view of 3 Mica Blue Mk1s into the Hairpin

(2:00) The Parade lap - Single photo still + Footage (speeded up, but you wouldn't know!)

Photo Gallery : MR2 Beading at Lunchtime

(2:30)
Outtakes from Saturday and Sunday
The Stig makes an appearance - or is it Blokey?
Westerfield spins in front of Anna
Anna gets a close look at Radar
Si gets a surprise at the Hairpin
Me opposite locking through exit of Abbotts
Tom following a very badly driven 355
Me locking up into the hairpin (sorry Alex!)
The gang at the end of he day ..

Oh and the music track. In the end I went for something that's a bit leftfield - a fairly simple track with a catchy guitar hook. Its "I Like the way you move" - by the Bodyrockers. Very appropriate for a trackday ;)

Its from one of the Rush Hour complations (Rush Hour3 CD3 Track 1) if you all want to rush out and buy the album after hearing that track ;)

LoL! Its something I do without thinking now. Probably as the seat on the MK1 has given up all pretense of the bolstering holding you in place when it is cornering at decent speed (it is 21 years old after all!)

Although in my defense, I do opposite lock out of Abbotts 'properly'(-ish) just to show I can do it if needed ;)

For those wandering about the camera setup used to capture this, I posted up some details here :

As anyone who saw it at Anglesey, its a bit Heath Robinson and there are power and signal wires everywhere, but it works well enough :)

I think you were doing a top job of getting rides with everyone :)

I think there's some footage of you at the clip right at the end - is that you in the middle in the dark trousers and beige long sleeved t-shirt, carrying your lid?

Was tricky with you following to get the distance right, I think it gave us a better idea. IMHO, the camera pointing backwards is easier to shoot, and gives you better pictures :)

Yeah, I've actually got that already done - there's 2 hours 10 mins of footage  plus the 4 minute clip above.

The only snag is that when I try to set the PC off to render it and burn the disk (takes ~ 4 hours with all that footage!) Pinnacle Studio crashes at different points

I've had two attempts so far at encoding the footage to DVD - I'll be making some further tweaks to the setup tonight and giving it another go.

The problem is with the MPEG encoding of the video itself, not the burning of the disk unfortunatly. I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve...
