can you "mend" a flexipipe ?

Post by CosmosblueMR2 »

hi all,

My flexi pipe is blowing... looking at it from underneath the car it looks IMMACULTE... it's blowing from inside.

Can i buy a new one ?
would a new one just be welded onto either end of the exhaust sections ?

can i just wrap it with that exhaust wrap stuff (don't know the cost of that ?)

if not how much is a new flexi section ? :?

appreciate any info....
thanks
Frank.

(ps. i'm guessing the innards were knackered when i had no front engine mount for a while.. along with no bracket on the downpipe - both now fixed  )

Definitely worth knowing mate =D> , my Blitz flexi section has hit the road a couple of times when my car was too low. It's now at a sensible height but I could do with repairing the flexi section.

Have to be 'next month' though, if you know what I mean

Cheers

Sorry to move off topic but quackfit seem to be too dim to balance my wheels properly leaving me with buckets of wobble.

Where abouts did you get this super balance from?

most specialist tyre places should do it - it's called "precision balancing" - it;s where they use the stud holes to balance the wheel rather than the centre hole of the wheel.

Cost me £8 per wheel (cos i didn't purchase any tyres)

I personally got it done at Jet Wheel and tyre in Benfleet Essex.

hope that helps mate.

Why the precision balancing?? I've never had a problem with "ordinary balancing" and the wheel is located on the hub by the centre hole anyway - the wheel nuts just hold the wheel on.. :?

My wheels came balanced with weights on the inside and outside of the rim. Quackfit and the like seem to only weight the centre of the rim which seems to not be enough on my clown wheels.

because the centre hole of the wheel was not 100% true in the middle of the wheel.

Mark Edwards mentioned this to me as he used to be a fitter in his younger years, and sometimes it's the only way to get a proper balance.

they use the same balancing machine but they use an adapter plate with 5 studs on and bolt the wheel on rather than just slotting the wheel on the machine using the centre hole.

Also cars like Citroen Saxo's HAVE to have this method done as they do not have a centre hole on their wheels ! :eye:

Top Job too as I was going nuts #-o

Sorted it out a treat \:D/

hmmm :-k I was told they were a fair bit more expensive than that - I will ring them to find out just to satisfy my curiosity

MGF lass ? - *cough*....
well she turned out to be a bit froward to say the least - she kept on ringing me, and basically hounding me... :? so I decided that meeting up with her again was not the best course of action
call me chicken but when someone is that keen then it's really not my thing.. (think I've been watching too many films  "Bunny Bolier" anyone ? )

Blowing Flexipipe

Post by welshboy68 »

Hi, I also have the same problem with my flexipipe.

I found the following site, with resonably priced items:

http://www.camskill.co.uk/brands/exhaus ... _lined.php

Am I being naive, or are these flexipipes suitable?

And for anyone in the midlands I had my flexi replaced for £80 by Custon Chrome in nuneaton.
