Just one more thing, to replace the big pipe which currently has the baileys dump valve in it with a straight pipe, does anyone know the diameter and length pipe I would need or if the stock one has a name I can look up?

Thanks again

The part number for that hose is either 17862-74020 or 17862-88480.
Toyota calles it "CONNECTOR, INTAKE AIR, NO.2"

If you have no luck finding one, PM me. I have one in good condition. You can have it for little money + postage from Ireland.

Hello

I'm the op (had to change username) and have an update and call for help.

I purchased a new pipe (thanks juliuswws) and new valve and fitted everything.

Now from the pictures I've studied I believe everything is where its meant to be.

However since fitting I occasionally notice when using boost a small noise like a "thwamp", hard to describe but sounds like air moving somewhere its not meant to. Its not big and only lasts a split second but enough to notice and I didn't get it on my previous turbos so I know its not right.

I've checked the piping I changed and everything seems secure and tight.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

Hi Jamie,

When I had similar noises, the little vacuum transfer valve was broken.
Orientation of the valve matters too. Black port should face IC.

Thanks for your help!

Do you know how I can be sure it's the VTV? Also will it do any damage running it like that for a while?

I think it's the right way around, what's IC? All pictures I've seen have the black side pointing to the passenger side and purple to the driver side which is how I have it.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't think it would cause major damage.

IC=Intercooler

From your pictures it seems that one port of the recirc valve was not plugged. Dirt may have got in...

The black port on my VTV facing the driver side, but every rev3 turbo I see got the vacuum lines set up differently.
Mine is like this: Blue goes through VTV

Correct or not, it works for me.

I would recheck all your vacuum pipes around that area.

I think the blue and yellow bits are the same as yours.

Unfortunately I can't post images to show the setup

I've checked the pipes a few times but no change unfortunately

Thanks for your help
