not cool dude....... that really sucks to have to pull it again after all the work done.... at least it was found now before it fully let go writing the forged bits off.

rev2rich wrote:So a bit of a set back has occurred.... when on the dyno ( start of th running in max 2k revs) A very faint knocking sound was heard so all stopped and investigated
With out any way of truly seeing any thing that could of caused it, it was agreed to drop the engine and do a full strip down..
Pulled every thing...
Crank
Bearings
Head (just incase the HG was to thin)
Every thing was perfect no sigh of any problems wear or miss alignment
Pulled 3 pistons perfect, 4 one had a rub mark on it like it had been polished some how... but it was not skirt ( the widest part of the piston ) it was just below the rings and it wasn't even on the power stroke side.
So the rechecked all the dimensions.. check to make sure the machine shop honed it straight. final out come was the piston wasn't machined properly. I went with a recommendation about them as they always use them and use them for all their high powered drag cars...
SO onward and upword
re honed the block and this time while it is out squirters added

Interesting,
The only other 3s blocks I've seen that have had oil squirters retrofitted in that manner (i.e in the main bearing housing) were at a Sheffield based MR2 "specialist" famed for timescales and build quality. He was extremely proud of the work he'd had done and wouldn't tell me where the actual squirters were from (they were from a ford duratec.. spoiler alert ð) interestingly on the turbocharged versions of that motor - mazdaspeed 3 and mazdaspeed 6, they had oil squirters located on the main oil gallery, like the 3sgte and most other engines. it's just speculation but if it were my engine I'd be hesitant about fitting squirters there, with the potential for lowering oil pressure and volume to the mains.

More boost required!
Interesting torque curve, shoots up then flatlines. Looks like it's being held back.

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Very interesting. Is the EFR the same as the s200sx-e series? Obviously with the wastegate etc? Your compressor wheels is the same size as mine but my exhaust wheel is slightly bigger. Mine's being mapped on Tuesday afternoon so I'll let you know the results.
Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
I am not sure if they are the same but will be nice to compare.. good luck for tomorrow
