Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Can anyone confirm the following engine is a rev turbo? and a rough price i should be paying (hes said it turns over, but has never heard it running)
it has 9 exhaust studs if that changes anything.
thanks
Ross.
That looks SUSPICIOUSLY like the Rev2 engine that i sent to the scrapyard in the car....
Are any of the exhaust studs bodged in? If so forget it, the head was junk.

no idea. ive asked him to check. told me he bought the engine. ecu exhaust and gearbox for a grand and never used them.
Don't buy anything before you have evidence of a compression test this will give you the best idea of the health of the engine. Don't want to tell you how to suck eggs but obviously even across all 4 cylinders with WOT and believe 170psi is about the area you want.
Otherwise you may be putting more cash into it than buying a fully tested running engine.
true, your not wrong. I'm just after a relatively cheap engine to get the car running is all..... i know cheap isnt always the way to go, at least the internals dont appear to be rusted like mine are............

It's a REV2
Not been tested, seen or heard it running and without any guarantee then i wouldn't spend over £100 on it
Compression test is ok'ish but that still don't mean the engines good.
They are some very lean looking exhaust valves.
It's not an engine someone has regularly serviced or ever cared for.
Can you get a pic of the engine number? should tell you when it was built then.
The part number pictured is a rev2 number.
