Jacking up and jack stands

Post by metallica fish »

Does anyone have photos of jacking the rear end of the car and placing on jack stands without using the sils?

I would like to avoid putting pressure on the sils if that makes sense?

Cheers

No photos, but you can put the axle stands on the ends of the subframe at the lowest point. You can also jack the car up from the middle of the subframe.

The big red thing.

You can jack it in the middle of this, and put the axle stands at either end at the lowest point.

In fact, I'm sure these points are shown in the owners manual / workshop manuals.

Another option would be to use blocks of wood to spread the load on the sills.

I would always recommend using a block of wood on top of the axel stand.. stop it mangling the metal. :thumleft:
