Just recently purchased a rev 2 turbo, I cannot open the front bonnet when pulling hard on the release catch next to drivers door. I dont want to pull to hard and snap or stretch the cable.
Any ideas please?
Cheers
Kieran
Try getting someone to put pressure on and off the catch on the bonnet while you are pulling the leaver, hopefully it's just not been opened in a while
started the car this morning and i noticed that the bonnet was slightly open
so i opened it up and closed it again, pulled the catch and still did not open.
got to work and again it was slightly open
is the locking mechanism gone or what?
As the bonnet is lifting up a bit eventually, the lever must be releasing the lock.
Sounds like the spring that pushes the bonnet up has become weak or maybe the mechanism/spring is covered in crap which is giving the mechanism/spring some resistance to movement. (The drive to work maybe hit a bump that helped overcome the resistance).
There is a sweet spot on the bonnet on the driverside somewhere near the topmount that you can knock with the palm of your hand that will also help the spring pop the bonnet open if it is not locked down.(dont do it too hard or your might make a dent in the bonnet).
Next time you get it open give it a clean and lubricate it. If that doesnt work change the spring.
