[Mk2] [Turbo] Oil pump swap - anyone done it? anyone want to help me do it!

Post by Vampire »

so im going to replace my oil pump as a very low revs and engine warm im getting the light flicker which i know means oil pressure low!

Has anyone ever changed the oil pump?

I do not want to have to remove the engine

I now have a brand new oil pump, water pump, and belt to go on.

Im in Yeovil somerset if anyone wants to earn some good money helping me sort this. thanks

Just a bit more info on my issue: I have replaced oil with 40/10, new oil filter, cleaned out the sump, replaced oil sensor.

so i know only thing left is the pump, which as the car is coming upto 100,000 and 22 years old is to be expected

I would check your big end bearing first, I am sure you are going to find them worn and that will be where your oil is going

Yeah- good call on bearing inspection, so the first thing to do is pull the sump...you'll need to do this to replace the pump anyway.

at 1000revs or above the light is off, but if it drops down below it starts to flicker.

when u say big end barings, is that something i can replace/fix while im doing the pump, as ill do all at once

Is the engine hunting, revs dropping too low? That may cause a low oil pressure situation ?
