MK2 MR2 project or for spares
Hi...Yes this is only my second post ( first deleted ).. sorry about that but just thought it better to advertise this on here rather than EBay.
Right here we go....this is my 76 year old mums car!... she has owned it since 08/2000..MOT has run out and will be uneconomical to repair so I said I would try to sell it for spares or repair or scrap it for her once I have sold off the good bits.
1993 Rev2 ( I assume) N/A UK car
Garaged all its life
Red
I have pulled it out of the garage and thrown a bucket of water over it, the pics are when the car is dry so no false shine from being wet etc...all the usual sellers tricks to make there junk look less like junk.
I will list all the bad points below so there is no confusion..it will make the car sound terrible but it is a genuine granny owned car..if this was on ebay it would be listed as a barn find etc....
Bad bits -
Exhaust blowing ( needs cat and rear box)
Clutch feels vague ( does not slip but pedal feels too light to me and squeeks sometimes)..so bank on a clutch and cylinder maybe
Oil leak from camcover ...this was replaced at a garage and they snapped one of the bolts , engine will have to be removed to fix properly by the looks of it...leaks about 1 drip per day if car is used every day...been like it for about 2 years.
Rear of drivers side sill has rust ( as per pic ) ..I did not think there was any until reading on here about the common rust places..sure enough I found a bit
Drivers seat bolster has wear
Radio needs decode..she does not have the code
Voltmeter reads about 16 so I assume the alternator regulator is not good..although she tells me the gauge has always read the same ever since she has had it.
Passengers side has been painted due to minor accident which dented the rear panel above the air inlets... so that side is lovely and shiny where as
the rest of the car needs a proper mop... it is not yet pink like some, but needs a proper cut and polish.
Ariel only comes up half way.
Usual door switch panel clip broken
Brake pad warning light on intermitantly so pads must be getting low
Sounds great doesn't it!!!... said I would list all
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good bits
Genuine 95,000 miles ( is that a good bit!?)
No other body damage, no scuffed bumpers, no scuffed mirrors, no scratches or dents.
Wheels are excellent ( been offered good money for these already!)... any kerbing is paint only..no metal damage at all...she has these refurbed some years back.
Rear tyres have loads of tread left (fronts are legal but getting low)
Alarm (basic but works)
Rubber mats have been used since new so carpet is mint
Drives perfect, start every time etc.. it has never let her down in 15 years!
Nobody can believe that this is going to be scrapped/broken, but its just not economical to repair.
Car is in Essex (SS6) and would need trailering due to no MOT/Tax
Loads of old MOTs, little pile of receipts for rad, brakes etc...usual stuff
Receipt for a Power Steering relay - £152 !!!!!...lucky it has been cheap motoring apart from that.... she paid £8000 for this car in 2000 and it has never had any big bills..good advert for Toyota
This was still being driven until 7 days ago.
Please make me an offer.., no I dont have a price in mind but I do know what I have been offered for the wheels already ... I may break it and sell bits seperately in the end but that is a last resort for me really.
Pics to follow once I've hosted them somewhere.
Thanks for looking.
