Not sure if the link works but one of the ebay traders that makes Mx5 sills is now manufacturing sill repair panels for MR2's

I have bought a set to see what they're like - will post up once theyre delivered.

If the link doesn't work just search MR2 MKII Rear Sill Repair Panels

They are bit pricey, though not compared to the Toyota repair panels!

I made my own but it would have been much easier with these repair parts. You'll still need to fabricate some of the inner structure though, so not a complete solution - but a massive step forward :thumleft:

They're not pricey at all in my opinion. Depends if you want solid sills or rusty, porous, crumbly ones.

Certainly an investment to prolong your car's life.

Well considering only he's the only one that has took time to get these manufactured which not even toyota have done i would'nt exactly say they are pricey.

Go to a car repair shop and see how much they would charge to make you a set

that's for a pair? That's pretty good and if he's got a good rep with the MX5 lot then you know they're good quality. Some things cost money cause you do it once. I've had my sills fixed for a good price before and guess what? Yep, they need fixing again except this time properly!

£140 is a total bargain for those, well worth the money if you've got a crusty car.. if I thought my car would ever see bad weather I'd be buying a set to keep in the shed "just in case"

Sills

Post by Herts66 »

I think the price is reasonable and have bought a set while they're available.
The last ones I saw for sale were toxos and I think they were £70 each for the short sections no inner and no rear arch end piece.

I'll post up when I have them and bring them to Rockingham.

I think he is making them in batches - maybe a chance for a group buy?

Perhaps he can be persuaded to do some inners as well.

Whatever happens it can't be a bad thing as a lot of 2's are being broken and scrapped because of sills.

I certainly don't need mine doing yet but want them for the future...

I would be up for a group buy. Sadly with the mr2 and British weather if you use it anytime other than this week in a year its only a matter of time. I'll definitely have some for when the day comes!

I'd definitely be up for a group buy on these. Mine are in need of attention.

Shame they are not made long enough to replace the entire sill.

Maybe his guillotine and / or brake press cannot cope with that. :(

Ka replacements are long enough but rather thin, probably 22swg. Pity they do not make them heavier.

I've just messaged the seller asking about this he said they will look into making full length sills if they get enough interest. So if everyone start nagging him and we can all get new sills and keep our cars on the road

New Sills

Post by spikkey »

At last! some one has seen the opportunity.
I have been waiting ages for this to come up so snapped a set of these up as soon as seen.
Price might seem high to some but i was quoted 150 a side by Toyota dealer. (Hope the fit is good as original though)
Will be winter time before i will get round to having them fitted now, but look forward to seing some pic's of you guys doing them first.
Good luck.

Has anyone actually fitted these? Any good? Save money?

My biggest question is....if I go to a bodyshop, will it cost more than 150 quid in labour to knock up what these are?

Interested to see how much of the inner section is covered with the kit. I want a set for "one day"
