Super Edition

Post by jon_st205 »

I have just become the owner of a Super Edition, white & gold two-tone, in Japan 8)

Will need a few bits (Mr. Woods, I will be in touch!) but hopefully nothing major.

Now for the lonnng wait for the boat! Hopefully I can use it for a couple of months before the winter kicks in.

Cheers,
Jon

Only the nasty old auction pics, but the exporter does post-sale walk-around video's of the car so if it's not too embarrassing I will post that up when it's done.

Has all the SE stuff and not too many mods (Watanabe's 8) ). From the auction sheet it sounds like the Recaro's will need a bit of help so if anyone knows a good re-trimmer I'd be grateful. Getting slightly ahead of myself I know.

Cheers,
Jon

I should think you may well be able to get covers from Recaro, worth a try perhaps?

White over Gold is rare, though the spec differs from the Midnight Blue ones IIRC.

Cheers guys. Spec is the same, just the colour difference. Only unknown is
LSD or not, which was an additional option regardless of colour. Have only ever seen one other two-tone SE.

I used pacific auto, not the cheapest but less chance of being ripped off.

Jon

I believe the LSD was stock on the Midnight Blue SE. Though this is based on a sample of only five being in the UK.

Nope, optional on all, but I think anyone buying the SE in Japan were 'option box tickers'. No point flogging a non-existent horse here

I believe there is or at least was a white over gold SE in the UK, but it was starting to look a bit scabby and also the previous seller was asking a bit much considering its condition. Looking forward to piccys.

You are going to call you car 'sex wee'?

Nope, that term makes me cringe...

But I do name all my cars, so suggestions on a postcard.

Good to see Mark's old SE still going strong. :+:

With regard to the LSD, yes, I am sure you are right. The conclusion I came too with the LSD option on Superchargers was that it was a TRD part, but fingers crossed your car comes with one as it makes a world of difference.

Can I ask roughly how much you paid for it please?

5 meeelion! A fair whack for it. I won't know the full cost until it's here so I'd prefer to keep it my business for now.

So I have some humble pie to eat after some more research. The white-over-gold SE was the 1988 model, a run of 300. The midnight blue SE was the final 1989 run-out model and had a few additional bits likes the Recaro seats and 1989-specific bits like the later wing mirrors, 3rd brake light in the spoiler etc. My guy has translated the original sales brochure for the SE.1 so I'll post that up some time.

Cheers,
Jon

Fully appreciate that :)

Just curious to get a grasp on current market values, from an investment perspective. Not that mine's going anywhere any time soon.
