Azure Blue rev4 tubby purchase

Post by ryanaj79 »

New purchase today, Rev4 tubby tin top, in Azure Blue. Imported about 6 months ago, no rust and all mot/servicing paperwork all way back to dealership manuals :) is all stock apart from new exhaust.

Is my 2nd tubby in only a year, first was astral black rev2 which I advertised on here this month, but needed body work rust sorting and engine sounded tired lol so just saved up and got this!
Got recaro seats and TRD steering wheel, which were optional extras at dealership, see what you think?

Noice. Did you buy it privately or from a dealership?

yep, it was the one on ebay. Chap I bought it from is a small car dealer, has some classic high performance cars in his workshop, saw it bout a month ago and hurriedly sold my black rev2 haha,

the rev2 was a great sports car, cheap on insurance as classic age, decat and large twin exhaust, an stage 1 turbo, so when foot was to the floor it would pull lol, but gearbox sounded whiny and tired, and drivers side body work needed sorting, rust etc, plus had no air con.

this one drives a bit smoother, and quieter, handles nicer and of course, no rust :) engines not been messed with either,

I will miss the rev2 but this one is more civilised, bit like my 96 celica import

just over £4000, knocked price down from advertised price.
he knocked another couple hundred off as didnt get time to do new cam belt before sale. got it at a pals garage sorting it, and changing all belts and water pump at same time whilst its there, prob nowt wrong with them, but cheaper to do em all at same time :)

an didnt realise its a rarer colour, tho should hav since its only one ive seen.. plenty of red and white imports atm for sale. Wonder how many were made in azure blue?

its done approx 113,000miles, got genuine service history and mots from start.. clutch feels strong too.. went for a drive in other day, power delivery is effortless, you can tell the engine hasnt been messed with :)

will put up some more pics when I get it back

Looks a very nice purchase sir 8) Must admit I do like that blue.

Noticed the TRD steering wheel, that's a nice collectable expensive freebie :D

Look forward to seeing you put your own stamp on it :thumleft:

cheers, I will prob look into some tasteful tuning, dont want to mess with it too much, maybe HKS air filter change and basic ecu tune up.
It has a Defi module, currently has boost gauge, and been told i can add boost controller and turbo timer to it.
It has ABS as well, but alas no traction control, tho doubt the rev4s need it like the earlier ones.... I did do a 180 in my rev2 a couple months ago in the wet lol

just a quick update, had her wax oiled, every nook an cranny underneath! so should be little to worry about now shes in this country.

Also took out the middle storage box and relined the firewall as I think it looks better, plus makes inside look roomier, covered the screws, and found a TRD badge to cover the hole :)

Next job is fitting the rev5 speed flaps...

Not done much to her since sept, finally got oil pressure/temp an water temp gauges added.
She already had an old mk1 defi turbo gauge, and with luck i found matching gauges :)

Also got touch screen multimedia player and satnav fitted

and after ive sorted her small boost issue out, i might get a boost controller and have a remap

Hi all, its been a couple years since I updated what Ive done with my tubby.

Last year I replaced the old interior dash lighting, with brighter green leds, to match the Defi gauges, an for better retro look.

then antenna stopped working, so replaced with the s2000 antenna, looks much better

This summer I then changed from green to more modern look. Wanted white and blue/purple dash to match car. Got new set of BF white Defi's an control unit.
Took a while, but had to use different gels to create the look. Got another heater unit and installed some white leds, so I didnt have to redo my original.

Got another blue type gel to try out on gauges before I finish it, but is close. Got the idea from the Noble M15 speedo, an helps at night as dims the light slightly.
Never bothered doin any engine mods an want to keep it as original spec.

Kinda realised that a couple years ago, car is fast enough standard, as I dont track or race it.
Apart from interior lighting, its staying stock, it will be worth more in 10 years. No point gutting the engine for a few extra hp
