Starting procedure for oil circulation after 9 month layup

Post by Rob »

Bit irrelevant as I have started it anyway, but I changed the oil, removed the EFI fuse so it couldn't fire and cranked the car over for about 10 seconds.

Would this have spun the oil pump round and circulated the oil without running dry immediately?

if the oil pressure light went out straight away, then that will give you your answer.

mine gets laid up for 6+ months.. i just turn the key, never had any issues.

You'd flood it doing that as it'd still inject fuel.

Just start it up as normal :)

EFI fuel is nice and easy to pull so that's why it is my preference.

Thanks for the replies - never like starting a car without any oil circulated after a fair amount of time but I agree it won't really do much harm.

Cheers

Hey mate, yeah I've had it a few years!

It's had a windows out respray and I've been reassembling it and tarting it up underneath the past 9 months. Special wheels on their way too - loving yours by the way!
