[Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
Any recommendations of a reliable and accurate gauge?
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
I believe ryanrs is selling an aem setup for £100 in the breaking section, it's probably between aem and innovate when it comes to wide bands. Having said that my cheap prosport setup works fine.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
I run innovate. Its good
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
Techedge plus lsu 4.9
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
AEM uego, they're only £150ish brand new
I've had AEM and innovate mtx-l, both work but innovate need calibrating, and recalibrating regularly whereas the AEM just works

Thanks guys. Ideally what range do I need since the oem ecu goes as rich as 10:1 on full boost?

11.5:1 afr on full boost is the rule of thumb number ... After lots of runs and testing i found 10.8afr with water/meth on to be the best for power on my car .. thats the thing all cars are different, a little bit of testing is needed to find your ideal afr's
Kev.

aem doesnt read below 10.
but really, below 10 is useless, cruise and tuning youll generally run anything from 10-15, and off the scale (lean) when off the throttle.
ive had an aem for a number of years, still going good on the original sensor.
i had it on my rev5, my skyline, and also my current rev4. at least 5 years total id say, maybe even more!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
Yeah 11.5 would be borderline lean.
I use innovate because it has aux outputs so i can plug it in my datalogit.
Its not needed calibrated yet but if it does then its hardly rocket science

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
on a gen3 oem ecu, if your running higher boost, youll notice a pretty lean midrange!
13/14s!
only at 4krpm will it take a dive to rich.

Spot on jim , i was very unhappy with how lean spool and upto 4k ish was, so enriched to 12.5 afr with a nice slope as rpms rised and full boost came in, the car seemed happy so i left it like that .
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
does strike me as odd toyota did this.
gen2s, soon as youve any load it runs rich. so in theory, could easily be tuned with just a FPR to lean it out through the rev range.
gen3 dont work like that.
theres not alot you can do to the oem gen3 ecu i thought?
as itll always try and run stoich up to that point??

My example was a gen2 with mines ecu and hks vpc fitted .. bad news about the gen3 ecu i was going to try a tune mine for water/meth
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which wideband afr gauge?
I use an innovate MTX-L
I use it primarily for the serial output to my adaptronic e1280s
Nice wee video here from the guy who built it (The ecu)
