[Mk2] [Generic] Wide wheels help

Hi guys. Had my mk2 for a couple of weeks now. Planning custom wide arches and wide wheels to match. Unfortunately it will be a few months before this materialises but I like to plan ahead lol. I know this look won't please the purists on here but hopefully you will appreciate it once it's complete

I'm looking for wheels that will stick out the standard arches by 1.5-2 inches. Ideally 17s but realistically probably 18s

Any suggestions as to widths and offsets will be greatly appreciated. Will I have issues with tyres rubbing on the inside/ brake clearance? Will I need to go negative offset?

On another note I tried putting up an intro post with my previous project cars but I couldn't post photos. How many posts before photos can be added?

Forgot to add Id rather avoid spacers if possible

Wouldn't mind running spacers at the back but prefer not to have them up front
