[Mk2] [Turbo] Ecu help on engine swap

Post by TheDockter »

Just spent 2 days putting a rev2 engine in a rev1 shell... I thought everything would go swimmingly... Wrong! Went to plug in all my ecu plugs and the loom from the shell that attaches to the engine are both male?

WHAT DO I DO??? :-(

Thanks guys

I presume you're referring to the "4th ECU plug" that joins body loom to engine loom.

If so, answer is simple - change one to fit the other, or cut and shut. No big deal.

Is that just the loom that runs down the passnger side into the footwell? Just swap that section over? Simple as that?

No need to go near the footwell, and no need to change the body loom.

I'm referring to the plug in the boot next to the ECU.

Cut it off and solder new on one.

The rev1 has 6 wires and the rev2 has 8? How do i go about that?

Would swapping the loom from down the passenger side solve this?

Find out what the wires do and rejoin as necessary.

It'll solve the problem in the boot, and give you a new one in the footwell. Which is why i never change the body loom on any conversion.

What problem will it create by swapping them? I ask because the swap threads ive found say thats what they did?

You'll have to cut and shut wires in the footwell instead of in the boot.

There is absolutely no need to change the body loom on any conversion. Paul Woods and I never change body looms.

But do as you wish. :thumleft:
