MR2 REv1 in need of loving!!

Post by pistol pete »

Well with the golf going when i can sell and needing to save a load of money
i have been lokoing at whatc ar to get next.. fiesta zetec-s, St170 bora TDI

something i can look after work on etc..

then my nephew phones me, he has bought a new mr2 and needs to sell his... but thinks only worth scrapping/breaking as needs some bits for mot coming up etc..

i have loads of bits (turbo lid rev 3 spoiler border skirts etc etc) and a breaker that all mot parts can come from..
so why the hell not.. i am going to (untill im bored) make my ultimate looking mk2 as cheap as i can :)

Ill get some pics later when i get home its gone a bit green not really been used so needs loving.. but i can do all that.. and with the arrival of my new scissor lift on monday :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

anyways.. spent the day on the white one...

the wheels and exhaust were going on my nephews new car..
here is his new car.. poor thing..

so first thing this morning was get some pics of as the white one sits before anthing happens to it as i got it.. and its green with grime.. bearing in mind i bought this car completely blinjd with hi saying he had hit a lamp post..

interior. which hasn't been touched yet..

so first job was take the wheels and exhaust off the white one(japspeed) and fit to his blue one.. done that and off he went..

the wheels that were on the blue on i have kept but put to one side as they are horrid..
I put the proper 90s momo arrows on for now. and then fitted the mongoose that came from the blue onto the white.. looks and sounds much better..
then it was do somehting about the front.. its not perfect.. but a gentle tapping and pulling about along with some paint and new indicators looks much better, along with refitting the broken undertrays it had..

then a little face lift for it.. turbo engine lid with rev3 boot lid..

thats taken me all day.. decided to give it a run see what it drives like and take up t the jetwash to get rid of some of the green before doing a proper clean polish tomorrow..

here some pics before going out..

and after a deepcleaning 15mins at the jet wash its looking rather good...

during the run let it idle for ages was fine, drove just like it should no horrible noises.. and when i was underneath it found all the sills are perfect no rust, actually cleaner underneath than my rev 5
Its not perfect yet but for a days work it has come out really good..will be keeping an eye on the for sale section now for parts..

Your storage space makes me very jealous!

Looks to be a great improvement already, good work :thumleft:

Ahh its not clean.. Desperate need of a polish which I am doing now..

I thought rev 2 as its a 1993 car but doesn't have power steering .. Thought that was only rev1s.. I'm sure Craig will be along to confirm soon
