Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, I have recently bought a 1996 import MR2 and the previous owner has fitted dark blue bulbs and you cant see anything when your driving at night.
I want to know what colour are the bulbs are I want to replace them and put them back to the standard look.
If you could let me know, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Arif

Never understood the point of blue bulbs. Chavvy, cheap and the small fact that they output less visible light than standard.
Standard bulbs don't have a Colour.
Just get down to Halfords and get a pair of H4 Osram Nightbreakers.

Hi Peter,
Cheers for the reply. Isn't H4 headlight bulbs mate? I'm talking about the speedometer backlit bulbs?
Cheers

My clocks had a kind of blue transparant rubber cover on the main bulbs

This is what it looks like when driving at night, can't see the needle so cant see how fast you are going.
Surely this not standard?

No that's not standard.
Blue bulbs will never work with red needles, they just make the needles vanish.
I had the same problem with my Turbo speedo cluster, you simply couldn't see the needles at night because a previous owner had the bright idea that blue leds would look good.
Just take the blue lamps out and fit ordinary clear ones.
My NA originally came with clear lamps with a pale green sleeve, when I tried to take the sleeve off to replace the bulbs it ripped more often than not, so I just fitted clear ones.

Thanks Paul, Peter Gidden - SBITS has kindly sending out some bulbs to me so ill just replace them, got the speedo cluster out last night all ready to fit the replacement bulbs. The ones that came out were LED's, even the bulbs looked horrible.

Stock is so much better, and easier on the eye than bright blue LEDs.
