May have have bought a 1995 rev 2 turbo but yet to view and check probs

Post by masterbateson »

so it looks like ive just bought a 1995 rev2 turbo for the grand sum of a bag of sand.

Has anyone on here ever previously owned this one eblag 191489771849 or been to view it?

I have just spoke to the seller who mentioned a sill repair near or on the jacking point that needs repairing (which isnt mentioned in the listing)

Also the broken stud on the manifold, turned into more than one broken stud :facepalm:

Ok I'm not to worried if broken manifold stud end out to be more than one, if...... its the same as with an mgtf and i can remove the broken stud and replace.

Can i do this relatively easily? ok i expect a bit of wrestling,swearing,grazed knuckles and lashings of plusgas.

But is that poss or all thats involved with doing this on these cars?

Also car has no paperwork apart from V5c which isnt ideal.

Any thoughts/advice?

If it is 1995 it should be a rev3, did it start life as a turbo? the description is very vague, it says it has a SS tubular manifold which if true means it probably doesn't have a standard turbo fitted. The 30-40K miles is highly unlikely and should be backed up with past MOTs.

Have you got more pics of the car engine bay and interior that you can post up?

Not many photos. As Rash says, rev3 turbo.

Interesting, that it has UK rear bumper and rear lights, UK front numberplate holder, import toblerones and front wings and import GT badge :-k

It has no MOT, before parting with any money it might be worth spending £50 on getting it MOT'd so you know if anything other than the seized brakes needs putting right.

Wouldnt touch that with a barge pole, looks like a right mish mash and will turn into a money pit.

Although I agree, it's a bit late as he seems to have already bought it.

If it has a good rev3 turbo engine I reckon your money is safe even if you part it out...

would be interesting to see the engine bay, claims to have a polished turbo housing, so possibly not a ct20, although it could just be a polished ct20 but would anyone go to the trouble?

My money is on it being a UK converted car using a Rev2 turbo engine.

Wouldn't be the first example of UK bumpers on a Japanese car - some might prefer the look of fitting the UK plates in the OEM location - it's all speculation until (hopefully) "masterbateson" comes back with some more info after having a good poke around.

heres a few things from a car check I've done

Model Details 2A (10/1989 - 11/1991)

But says Manufacture date 1994 ? is this import reg date maybe?

I have been informed by a good source, that this car appears to be a Rev1 particularly looking at ride height/suspension?

Also i am now a little bit wary that its a Jap import but with uk bumpers?
:?:

Stolen - Police =no
Stolen - Insurance= no
Written off= no
Exported= no
Imported= yes
Scrapped =not scrapped
Unscrapped= not unscrapped (what the fudge is unscrapped :? )
VIC Inspected= not vic inspected
Colour Changes=no colour changes
Plate Changes = no plate change

I've contacted the seller to say I am unable to go thru with sale, and will make sure he gets relisted for free.

Maybe I shouldnt have been scared off, to be honest I was expecting to be able to contact him for a bit of back and forth emails b4 he accepted my offer.

For some reason earlier i could not find my thread/post so couldnt see there had been replies.

I'm down Newport in a hotel so maybe either my laptop or there wifi/server is a bit screwy.

Cheers

That's a shame bud but in all honesty things just weren't stacking up, and for the money there are plenty of other options out there, Strikes me as very odd that it's down as blue as well, it isn't really the shade of green that'd be mistaken for blue :(

Doesn't seem worth the asking price imho, as it needs trailering etc.

I've seen a few stock Rev1/2 turbos in relatively good condition go for £1500ish recently..

Sounds like a limon :lol:
