Stop start traffic?
Is it a celica cc?
If so its above a fairly large heat source so yes it will heat soak, just like ic pipes that run over the top of the engine.

Where is that located?

Either way, if air isnt flowing through the cc rad by means of not moving or the fans not on yet due to the temp switch not hitting its switch point then id expect it to warm until a) fans kick in or b) you move fast enough for a good flow of air.

how much water is in the system? where is the CC located? fans on the pre rad?

of course it's going to warm up slightly when there's no air flow but it shouldn't get hot if the system is designed properly

What turns on the charge cooler water pump?
You can wrap the charge cooler with insulation to stop engine heat getting to it.

Normal for it to get warm, I'd be looking at your ecu to get the fans to come on when the water temperature rises :thumleft:
or you could use the air inlet temperature sensor I suppose :-k

Pre-rad in the engine bay... fail! One of the key benefits of a charge cooler on the SW20 is being able to get the good airflow at the front to do the cooling rather than relying on the side vent where the engine heat soaks the pre-rad / SMIC.

If you're stuck with that location then you should have a fan permanently running on it. But if you actually care about your intercooling, I would suggest looking at relocating the pre-rad

I'm pretty sure he meant the CC was located in the engine bay, unless I'm missing something :-k

Yes it in the engine bay so could get heat soak from that... but the fans are auto set to go on only when it gets hot it only get warm not hot.

I wanted my boot so got it mounted in the engine bay i know not ideal but this is my daily drive car now...
