[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 3 tubby - Potentially burning oil?

Post by parker455 »

Hi guys,

I picked up a relatively well priced rev3 tubby today. I bought it to break it but it seems a shame as the shell is good on it, my only gripe is that the catch can breather seems to have spat oil out at some point, not major but there's still some in the bay - could this be a sign the rings have had it? There's no smoke on boost/whilst revving, I also checked the hot pipe from the turbo for any oil and there wasn't any, just a bit dirty. I need to do a compression test to see where it's at but I just wanted an opinion on it from someone like yourself. Cars done 75k miles and the dipstick reads just under full. Breather on it was an aftermarket POS.

Car boosts fine and engine sounds relatively good.

I've sent this to Peter @ Sbits but thought I'd ask you guys aswell for an opinion.

Thanks for the help,

Tom
