Heres my 2nd attempt at a profile (moved and deleted photos in photobucket lol)
Bought a straight, untinkered standard Toyota Rev5 NA with full leather and 21k on the clock in 2001.
Driving this car reminded me of "smokey and the bandit" and was great for a few years until I became more active on IMOC in 2002 and became hooked on having a Turbo conversion after reading Frank's aka Cosmosbluemr2 thread on his turbo conversion.
My 2 went in for the (then) Rogue Systems "drive-in drive-out" treatment with a few little extras too and was fine for a couple of years, then got bitten by the modding bug and changed my wheels a few times and got some Recaros and was happier then...
But it didnt stop there, I wanted more power and after reading loads and many late (1am) phone calls with Peter Sbits, I placed an order for an ATS TDO6 kit with screamer.
A long list later that included forged pistions, Piper 264 cams, Radtec chargecooler, KO Racing R1 zorst, TRD ARbs and strut braces, carbotech pads etc etc, my car became a beast with 352 ATW at 1.4 bar
Then after pouring a lot of time, money, thought into that mr2 and getting it to the stage of just needing one more remap to tweak the power to 400 bhp,...
Then after one hell on earth, doomed lecherous relationship ended with me kicking out my cheating Ex to the kerb, and lost all interest with my mr2 before meeting many months later, my wife to be.
We got engaged, needed the money and sold it to Rash from RA Motors in March 2008 to fund getting married and buying a "sensible car"...a Rav4 yeh
Then as Rash drove off in her I could still hear her on the motorway as he gave it some beans
Rash then advertised her for sale...and then I realised I'd made the biggest mistake of my life
Fast forward a few years and I wanted an MR2 again and bought Jimgts REV5 in March 2012, so a deal was struck and I bought her
But although this was a great modified mr2, I missed my old 2 and a chance conversation with Peter and he told me that he still saw my old 2...but in Guernsey!!
In fact he flew out there every few years to work on my car, service it, clutch change etc.

Re: 550 bhp Rev5 Turbo - Selling.......now sold to Shane34... :(
Then I stumbled onto Redmr2 "Craigs" thread about re-shelling his tintop into a T-Bar (the 1st thread lol) and that got me thinking again about my old mr2....
So Peter kindly asked the owner if he could pass on his details and I got talking to Joe in Guernsey and a deal was struck and now I own my old 2 again, a Tbar Rev5 tubby
Then of course, I had battles when the car was in the UK, as I needed to get it registered and then prove it was the same car that was exported in 2008
It had no MOT and still had Guernsey plates.
So another call to Peter and he came up trumps again, booked my car in first with him ahead of other projects such as Karls V6 conversion and completed a pre MOT test and together, Peter took time out of his day to drive down to his MOT test station where it passed with flying colours!
Unfortunately Ive had a resurgence of ill health and couldnt do anything for months. But again, Peter called me to have a chat, see how I was and this helped to motivate me to look again at my 2.
By then the alternator was goosed, and a quick call again to Peter and a recon one was on its way to me and fitted just over a week ago!
I said to Peter that this one was to remain as he built it, but Ive had a few plans for her to reach a little more power:thumleft:

Re: 550 bhp Rev5 Turbo - Selling.......now sold to Shane34... :(
New Alternator with 2 year guarantee- bought new from sBits!
Another day just browsing IMOC and GeorgeL posted up that he was going to upgrade his set-up and selling his:-
Attention then turned to the engine management. I already had a LINK XLEM (Gen1) that can have COP and many other features, inc flat shift and launch control etc etc or swap for the Apexi PowerFC in Jimgts old rev5 turbo.
I decided to go with a Motec M4 pro, then bought 'Simon Hicks Rev3 Turbo gearbox with TRD Diff'.. through Peter Gidden @Sbits and also bought Shmed's OS Giken Twin Plate R2CD he had for sale
Then it all started
My engine bay before mods
Mustang 75mm TB
Motec M4 Pro
HKS Fuel Rail & HKS 1000cc injectors
Custom Inlet TB with Mustang 75mm TB
BMIC Scoop going in
BMIC & Aquamist HFS/2 WI system
OS Giken Twin Plate R2CD Clutch & Flywheel Package with new ARP Flywhel Bolts
Motec M4 Pro, BMIC, 2 x 10" Spal puller fans & Aquamist system completed
Since then its been mapped by Adrian @ Fensport and according to tthe bum dyno, is a very quick mr2 with circa 500-550bhp. (Not dyno'd so just a guess from Adrian)< but certainly quicker than on my ATS TDO6 :lol
EDIT: removed broken links

GeorgeL wrote:Genuine Garrett GT3582R (750hp rated)
TTE WRC Group A Corolla Manifold (as rare as they come and worth a fortune on their own)
TIAL Wastegate (40 or 44mm, brand new diaphragm and seal done last month as part of my car overhaul)
3" ID Dowpipe and Full 3" Exhaust system. Custom built work of art and allows the car to breath but maintains perfect back pressure for this set up.
Screamer pipe set up (also a work of art and has a Flexi section in it also)
Basically everything you need to drop it right on in place
....Ill also be selling my HKS fuel Rail with HKS 1000c injectors

Great write up Julian, certainly one hell of an MR2 journey! Glad my T bar thread inspired you to get your old car back.
Well done mate, the car is an animal with, what looks like, no expense spared!

Great build and after seeing this car a couple of weeks ago I can say it is a work of art, especially the engine.
Re: 550 bhp Rev5 Turbo - Selling.......now sold to Shane34... :(
I've just removed my fog lights broken the the tabs in the process. I'm wondering whether it is worth putting them back on seeing as the car will only be used in summer. but looking at your pictures san's fog lights i'm swayed to not put them back on.

No, Just No selling Julian (please)
Great car with a good pedigree owned by a really decent chap!
Re: 550 bhp Rev5 Turbo - Selling.......now sold to Shane34... :(
WOW....! What a beast you've created
Shame you are selling. Would love to buy it back but judging by the current spec / monies spent it will be out of my price range
Goodluck with it.

Was cleaning up the engine bay and didn't like the black TRD engine oil cap, so put on my genuine TRD oil cap and looks much better
Also removed the HKS ssqv and replaced with an Blue anodised Forge Dump valve that I had bought from Peter @ Sbits! Not only does it perform it's function it looks better in the engine bay too
Oops forgot to remove the red plastic tab and clear protective off

Just read the whole thread, great write up! Sleek stealthy looks and serious power. Seems exceptionally well looked after to be honest! This has to be one of (if not the most) well sorted cars on the site, would love to see it in the metal one day.

Thanks Dan!
Every time I've owned her (both times lol), I've always clay barred, then polished her yearly then just regular wash, wax and that's kept her paintwork clean.
It always helps that I'm very OCD about things, inc what parts/modifications to have and then only after doing research, PM-ing owners on here or on mr2oc.com or consulting mr2 specialists such as Peter SBits or Simon @ YVS Performance
She's beens a proper labour of love with no expense spared. I'm still paying off the credit cards now ha ha
Sadly you probably won't get to see her whilst I own her.
I'd been waiting on a member here to complete the sale since September, but its looking more like it'll be broken for parts
