Realy does depend on what bolt-on's your thinking of adding to it .
Rev2's can handle quite a bit done right :thumleft:

ok sofar i have brought a manifold decat pipe and deciding on what exhaust single or twin exit TD05-20G from a scooby, dump valve, intercooler (but I am thinking in the location that it should go maybe i need something else) boost controller.

I am also looking for a fast road clutch and maybe an oil cooler, I will see what the temps are like once I have got it running near the power i want.

can handle a lot, however, unless you do away with the air flow meter and upgrade the injectors, you will struggle to see 300bhp, around 240-260 is deemed around normalish for a rev2 with bolt ons.

I'm going to tap out at TD05-20G , i never went this harcore, sure plenty of imocers have pushed this far . mhg would be a good idea though :eye: plus larger injectors for one.

well i am looking for around 400 if this mean a engine rebuild then i will but i was under the assumption that toyota lumps are strong and could handle it.

so what do i need to get in the way of air mass sensor and injectors?

For 400hp you really need to look at going stand-alone for the ecu. not cheap :eye:

That will convert you to speed density (running a map sensor / afm delete)

Plus larger injectors for a start :thumleft:

Might be an idea to stick a set of forged pistons in there as well, and it would be rude not to use a metal headgasket while you have it apart :thumleft:

An ebay tubular manifold? You don't buy them, you just rent them til they crack. Keep the stock cast manifold.

They are, but Rev1/2 engines used fibre head gaskets which are not up to the job. Replace head studs as well.

TBH, IMHO you're mad expecting a 20 year old engine to take anywhere near 400hp without a full rebuild first.

300 is quite easy, for 400hp you really do need someone like peter in your corner, the engine need toughening up for 400hp.

My rev3 turbo block is knackered. Having the engine rebuilt using a rev2 block bored to 86.5mm with JE forged pistons, CT26 hybrid turbo and Apexi FC engine management. Should be good for 350bhp @ 22 psi boost.

Rev1/2 blocks are Strong. Think Simon @ YVS is running around 500bhp on one, and I've never heard of one crack.

manifold is from the usa cost me £1400 it better not crack on me. I'm always out there so get parts pretty cheap when i can.

I'm going to stick to these parts for now and get it running right. as it need painting (paint fade) and the interior sorting i'll start there first.

so on my stage2 list i have
fast road clutch
injectors
head gasket
wiseco pistons

I'd be interested to see what power/boost, the rev2 block cracked.

Good stuff! Sounds like a Full Race. Did you get a Rev1/2 or Rev3 head stud pattern?
